In three weeks time we're off touring around Scotland in our motor home for a fortnight. We want to start our tour with a couple of nights visiting Loch Lomond.
We love piece and quiet, wildlife and art. Unfortunately my wife's asthma precludes long walks up steep hills. Can anyone recommend which of the many camp sites in the area is the nicest.
Thanks.

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
When I was visiting that area three years ago I narrowed it down to two - Lomond Woods at Balloch on the south end of Loch Lomond and the C & CC site at Luss about eight miles further up on the western shore - the Luss site won on price. It's a lovely site right on the shore, with fab views across the loch and only a few minutes walk into the village where you can take boat trips across and around the loch. The only downside may be the noise from the main road which runs right past the site but in a motorhome you wouldn't hear it that much, and tbh, even though I'm a light sleeper and I was in a tent it didn't bother me at night.
I've never stayed at Lomond Woods so I can't form an opinion of the site but I do know it's within a short walking distance of the loch and Balloch itself if you need to be close to shops.
If ever I were to go back up there I wouldn't hesitate to stay at Luss again - I love photography and I got some great shots from around the site and the immediate area. You say your wife likes art - does she paint? If so, then in and around Luss would be a great place to do it. Check out my blog pages from May 31st and June 1st 2013 for some inspirational pics of the area

Hello there, we stayed at Lomond woods in Balloch a few years ago, it was a lovely site, 5 - 10 mins walk into Balloch or own to the loch, plenty of shops, eateries and McDonalds lol. The site was nice, bathrooms had some small half size baths, I would return. x
Lomond Woods has no views of the loch. It could be anywhere. We've been more than happy with the two on the east shore (C&CC Millarochy Bay and FC one next door, name escapes me) that both look at the water. But it's a detour to go up the east side. For touring, Luss will do you fine. The sites further up the loch are mainly for statics.
