I'm not sure if this post should be here or in camping abroad!
I'm wondering about a first foray into the Channel Islands. My parents live 40 minutes from the Poole ferry so we've got a handy stop over.
There's me and a 4 year old for the whole trip and then my partner will fly down to join us.
We'll have a car, but not sure I can fit the bikes in as well as the camping gear.
Are there any sites that anyone would recommend? My preference is for quiet, no entertainment or bar needed, but I'm conscious my daughter would like some company and to make some friends.

If you go to Guernsey you can also camp on Sark and Herm. Both are great get away from it all. There is more to do on Sark, but Herm has thr most beautiful beach.

I'd discounted Sark and Herm because of the lack of cars, but we could use the transport. We are car campers though so not sure we'd be able to lug a dutch pyramid tent without a car/help.
We could do a combination of tent etc on the mainland and then get a pod or pre-erected tent on one of the car free islands...
There are a couple of campsites on Sark which aren't mentioned on here which have good reviews.

Our friends, who live on Guernsey, do a weeks camp on Herm every year. You would not believe how much stuff they take with them - more like a house move than a holiday! I have only done Sark and Herm in a two man though! Still, if you do go to Guernsey, both are worth a day trip.
I enjoyed Herm a few years ago with my son. We took a small dutch pyramid on public transport from midlands so getting your stuff over will be fine. It was busy with daytrippers in peak August but still lovely. Bit of a walk to beaches and steep climb back to site, we enjoyed it though and would definitely return at a quieter time.
This is the only pic I have of the site and we were on the overflow field. (excuse the mess and poorly pitched tent!)
Reading this thread with interest. We were looking at the Channel Islands earlier in the year. We couldn't find any tiny sites when we were looking. Are all sites of the larger kind? Handful of pitches, basic shower and loo is all we look for.
Also, why is the ferry soooo much more expensive if going for a week rather than a day trip? Surely a ferry is a ferry and if you're there a week u spend more in the local economy.
Sorry to hijack your thread but would really like to know re small sites.
I live in Jersey and have camped at both Rozel campsite and beauvaland and both are excellent. There is also a smaller site called daisy cottage which is in the west of the island which I have not stayed at.
