i remember years ago driven up from south of france to a site near harrogate to meet friends for the weekend,arrived at 9am and told to go away and come back at 1pm,i offered to pay extra to get in as had driven through the night and wanted to get head down for a few hours. no chance. rules are rules. ps the site was empty , very few vans on site. found a lay-by near by had a kip then headed up road home.

Never known a CL to have a problem with arriving or leaving early/late, unless of course the pitch is required. If they did complain, well there are plenty more. I worry more about others reporting the CL to the CC.

I can see this argument from both sides. On a busy site, the warden will need time to clean the facilities/prepare the pitch/deal with admin before the next folk start arriving. And the people leaving that morning have the right to stay on their pitch until the death, if they wish, without being hassled.

On the other hand, if the site is quiet and a pitch is available, then it may be ok to let folk on early.

We mainly camp in France, and don't try to check in before 12. But sometimes you have to be quick because they close from 12 'til 3. And we have been chased off our pitch by a huge motorhome arriving about 10.0 am when we were still having breakfast. I complained at reception, eventually they admitted they had made a mistake letting the MH have our pitch.

I had reason to complain once when a caravan once turned at 3am at nantcol waterfalls and started to noisily pitch including talking to each other in normal voices and sorting their dog out. I was not happy as it woke us all and I had to leave the next day without much sleep at all, but 1/2 an hour early is not much of a crime is it?

You may well wink, Frazzers... but what the dumb fools didn't realise is that if they had vacated by five to twelve, I'd have handed them two bottles each!!
