I would highly recommend the Camping and Caravan Club site in Hertford. We like it so much that we have stayed there a couple of times, even though its only ten minutes drive away! Its a very spacious site, with good toilet and shower facilities. I have no connection with the site other than being a visitor as a member of the CCC.
There are two railway stations in Hertford. Hertford East for the City, and Hertford North for Kings Cross. The county town is worth a visit too. If you are planning to drive into London, be aware (if you have never done it before) that driving in London is horrendous, and parking even worse. The M25, London's orbital motorway, is either a race-track or London's biggest car park.
When we go to London we always use the CCC site at Chertsey. Easy train journey into Waterloo from Weybridge, and a late train if required.
Site is clean and well presented.
Have a great time.
I can second Irvine45s post and highly recommend the Chertsey site.
Its lovely and clean, great facilities, good size pitches, easy access from Weybridge and there are two great pubs within 5 minutes walk of the site, one either side of the river.
Lovely sitting outside in the sun watching world go by.

We stayed at one nr the chalfonts last year. 5mins from M40, took the tube into central London from Chalfont & Latimer (10 mins by car, plentiful parking)
We've used the Hertford CC a couple of times when visiting darn sarth and found it to be one of the best if not the best in the country...It's huge but never feels overcrowded. The times we used it it was very quiet and didn't have the drunken party goers which you sometimes find on the larger sites, perhaps the lack of a club house has something to do with it.
------------- Getting old isn't fun but the alternative is much worse.
We had a long weekend at the Hertford site at the beginning of this month, as it was the CCC Hertfordshire DA gathering. Great fun! Dring the weekend the site was "full" but there was still loads of space, it's so big and they never cram it to capacity.
We sometimes go there at the beginning of the season just to check our van and the awning out, as its so easy to nip home for all the bits we have forgotten to put back after winter. It doesn't matter to us that its only ten minutes drive away, its so close to town, but right out in the countryside. We could be anywhere.
