We have a week in July in Scotland - does anyone have any recommendations for sites for a small VW campervan near beautiful lochs or stunning scenery? We have no kids and can do wild camping too!
Much appreciated x

So many, for us Kinloch Campsite on Skye is hard to beat.

and Inverewe Gardens Campsite is another one with beautiful views in a stunning location.

The further North we go we find its hard to find sites that don't have amazing scenery all around them.

Sounds to me like you want wild camping. Every loch - and there are hundreds - has laybys. You'll share them with guys fishing and maybe less appealing groups wanting to party late. Max 3 nights in one spot or you risk being on the wrong side of the Access legislation. Lochs with sites? Kirk Loch, Loch Ken, Luss, Millarochy (both on Loch Lomond).... Try a UKCS map search. Dozens of sites.

-------------
2024 = 20 sites / 41 nights. 2023 = 9/23. 2022 = 13/35. 2021 = 11/29. 2020 = 4/20. 2019 = 13/35. 2018 = 20/33. 2017 = 10/22. 2016 = 19/33. 2015 = 15 sites / 27 nights. Didn't count 1976 to 2014.

Don't know if you are C & CC members but I stayed at their Luss site, right on the shore of Loch Lomond. It's a lovely site with several access points to the little beaches and fab views across the loch. The only downside is the traffic noise from the main road running right past the site but to me a bit of noise is worth the views.

Further to gkkad's suggestion for Arisaig, I stayed at Invercaimbe camp site, the end of the site goes right onto the beach and the views are truly stunning.

Loch Ken is a nice spot if you are not going to far north or are looking for somewhere to stop for a night or two on the way up or down.

Cashell or Milarochy on the eastern side of loch lomond. Road ends shortly after at Rowardenan , stunning scenery, away from crowds. Walking on the west highland way, beautiful.

Would also recommend Cashell C&CC camping in the Forest site. Stayed there for the Commonwealth Games 2 years ago. Stunning scenery as maughanjen says.it is situated near the end of the road up the eastern side of Loch Lomond.

Roinar, the query was for July last year! It would be nice to know where they went, though....

-------------
2024 = 20 sites / 41 nights. 2023 = 9/23. 2022 = 13/35. 2021 = 11/29. 2020 = 4/20. 2019 = 13/35. 2018 = 20/33. 2017 = 10/22. 2016 = 19/33. 2015 = 15 sites / 27 nights. Didn't count 1976 to 2014.
