Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
personally seeing as its only 4.1/2 hrs drive I would be leaving very early on the saturday morning and do it in one hit, maybe just stopping for a coffee break or 2

Derby to Looe in that sort of time on a summer Saturday morning ! Glad there's one optimist out there.
if you actually read what I put I said to add a couple of coffee breaks into that timing too and I'm sure parking at the caravan site wouldn't be a problem in a carpark while waiting for the pitch to become free, all it takes is a phone call and asking them
We did Bucks to Megavissey in June in one hit. Left early hours and arrived around 7 am. Parked in a large Asda car park, had breakfast when they opened at 8 am. A quick call at 9am to the site and we were told come on down and we could pitch early.
Maybe travel overnight and see if you can get on early.
Appreciate it's now high season so maybe more difficult.
Before we moved home to where we live now, we used to stop for a couple of nights at Diamond Farm at Bletchingdon, just outside Oxford. We then used to drive down to Cornwall on the Monday morning, missing all the traffic and going in the opposite direction to the weekend caravanners. That was when we had small kids, but now we are retired we still tend to book sites starting on a Monday, as the weekenders are going home.
------------- Best Regards,
Colin

the issue we have is that we can`t get the van out of storage till 8am :( but also can`t get it on our cul-da-sac.my dad set off to Newquay yesterday and it took him 6 hours to get to Bristol due to traffic.thanks for all the suggests guys I`ll have a look at them
thanks again paul
We travelled from Birmingham to Looe last year and stopped overnight at Chedder Caravan Club site. Worked for us as it was beyond Bristol and only just over an hour to travel once we'd left in the morning.
This year we went to the other side of Cornwall just south of Newquay and left home at 8pm and arrived a 12.15am. We were lucky as the site we travelled to had an amazing overnight arrivals area so we could arrive and get to bed then sort a pitch in the morning. It may be worth a phone call to see if they have any facilites for early arrival.

We stayed in Looe for a week last year on a site called "Camping Caradon". I would definitely recommend it, it was lovely.
