Starting last year we have started doing an annual camp-meet with 5 other familes. We are from all over the country and sort of Nottingham-Birmingham aeas seems to be quite central... Last year and this year we did 2nts, then 3nts at a site in Ashby-de-la-Zouch in Leicstershire...
Next year we want to do a Mon-Fri, but need a site with a few more facilities, or at least a bit more in the area..
Anyway.. I am trying to find a site in Sherwood Forest area. I think the kids would love the Robin Hood theme, but I am having difficulty find anything actually in or very near the forest.
We need a play area. We would like a little shop, maybe a pub onsite or walking distance and needs to accept tents and caravans. Ideally it will have an area that we can take over as a group.
The site we have used these last two years has been perfect in terms of our own littel field backing on to the park, but we can't really cope with the ack of other facilities for 5 days-a week.
Can anyone suggest anywhere? It doesn't even HAVE to be sherwood... just somewhere in the middle of us all will suffice....
Many thanks x

I can confirm that Callow Top is a fantastic site for multi family gatherings. Our kids spent most of their time in the pool or on the playground. There's a nice, if a bit steep on the way back, walk down to Ashbourne where there's a great little sweet shop that does milkshakes with your choice of sweets liquidised in. I personally prefer Terry's chocolate orange flavour & one of my kids always goes for watermelon flavour, but for all of our kids it's an essential element of our stay.

Definitely Sherwood Forest Holiday Park.
We stayed there as a group more than once and they were fine with that and made sure we were all together.
The shop is great and the area has loads to offer.
Sherwood Pines is good for the kids and cycling, there are good pubs around and the playgrounds for the kids too.
Lurcher Farm Cottage is very close to Wheelgate Park and white post farm and also a pub within walking distance. Not quite at Sherwood Forest but not that far from it. Takes both tents and caravans.
