What sort of clothes do you have that does not need ironing to look half reasonable.
I have some lightweight clothing from my backpacking days that you can get away with un-ironed but its ok for the hills and the pub amongst others dressed the same but not in my everyday life..or work?
Is it all like shiny polyester stuff?
VangoMan02, we wear just normal clothes, T shirts, shorts, jeans, cardigans, fleeces, I wear various tops, usually synthetic type tops or t shirts, skirts, again the type that don't need ironing, I am always very careful when folding clothes, so that even when they've been packed to go away, any travel creases just drop out as we wear them. I also always hang things up straight from the washing machine or dryer, if they are straight out of the dryer they usually don't need any ironing, even cotton jeans and t shirts, ditto with things like towels and teatowels, they go in their baskets folded neatly so come out looking like they have been ironed anyway, as do many clothes!
I only ever iron something that has come out really creased, but if I am honest, unless I need something for that day, if it ends up creased to that degree, I have been known to chuck it in with the next wash load that goes in, then into the dryer, and more often than not it comes out crease free, in fact I did this with a jacket that I needed for a meeting only this week!
To be honest, if anyone judges me on the creases, or not, in my clothes rather than what I have to say or who I am, then that's their issue, not mine, so I am happy to wear clothes with one or two creases, as long as I am clean and reasonably tidy, I'm happy.
Hope this explains the method to my madness!
Jane.
PS I know that this thread has become all about whether people iron things on holiday or otherwise, but there is only so many times that someone needs to reply to the OP that there are ironing boards on many sites in the laundry rooms, or that there is the option of taking a travel iron and use a towel on a table!

If you read all my posts, not just the ones you copied and pasted. You will see that we do not iron clothing on holiday ( like others have also said) but maybe iron a few creases which takes a couple of minutes. Which is not a lot of time, so don't no where you get the idea that some people spend all their holiday ironing?
Where did I say people spent all their holiday time ironing ?

I have some outdoor clothing as I mentioned that does not require ironing but other than that I am unaware of other types of casual/dress clothing than you don't iron.
It was not a criticism but a genuine question and none of the non ironers have been able to answer it, including yourself.
I simply asked what type of clothing you wear, not just on holiday that requires no ironing at all.
I wear normal clothing - jeans, chinos, regatta-type walking trousers, short, cotton tees, dri-fit tees. I think the difference in opinion isn't so much in the style of clothing, rather what defines "requires ironing" !

Anyway 21st century man..you should be ironing your own clothes and not depending on your wife and you won't end up in casualty as you say
Again, where did I say I didn't ? In fact, come to that when did I say I was a "21st century man" (whatever that is) ?
Copied from your first reply.
Never ironed on holidays, ever. And I think I would be spending the rest of my holidays in casualty if I suggested it to Mrs Dent.
The 21st century man was just a quote from can't remember where but sort of says the modern man does his own ironing, rather than the old adage of its womens work! Sorry if you felt offended, I thought most people would understand the saying.

Tentaddict.. thanks for the reply.
I see what you are saying with the clothing you mention. What I was really wondering about mens trousers, shirts, jeans as an example and not just on holiday as some folks mentioned. For work or casual dress.
I am retired but my work uniform had to be immaculate or you would be told off, also was the case with some other jobs I have had.
Its horses for courses with work and day to day life and yes life is to short to worry about some things, we are all different.
I wish I could get away without ironing my jeans and chinos etc which are all put on hangers after being washed. I have tried over the years but the material is just too thick (cotton) to be crease free when dry. I have also tried the so called crease resistant chinos to no avail.
Please believe me that I was not judging anyone, I was asking genuine questions but seem to have upset some people.
Well must fly got my ironing to catch up with

I live in combat trousers the majority of the time, both at home and on holiday, or shorts when it is warm, and polo shirts.
For top wear I have fleeces, sweat shirts and a few jumpers but mostly wear cotton or woollen smocks, and they look very silly ironed!
If I want to be "smart" then I have a couple of pairs of chinos and a few cotton shirts. None of them need ironing, especially if they are dried flat or on hangers.
I possess one suit, 4 dress shirts, which are washed and dried as described above, and a couple of ties.
When I worked I wore the Network Rail provided combats, polo shirts and sweat shirts.

VangoMan, we have our own business and I work from home, DH works on Film/TV locations on in events like Fashion Shows, so dress code is pretty casual so never had the issues about pristine clothes as you have, surely no one has got upset about ironing... have they?
Have you tried tumble drying trousers and jeans? I find that my husband's stuff comes out crease free, the additional cost of drying them in my view far outweighs the time spent ironing.
I wasn't meaning you personally were judging me, you've never met me for a start! just that I'm honestly not bothered if anyone did based on my clothing or anything else for that matter, to me it's who we all are and what we have to say and how we treat others that is important...
Enjoy your ironing.... it is pretty ironic (pun intended) that a post on ironing has generated so many replies on a camping forum, I have been chuckling away reading so many posts...
