Hi Campers (yes, I did think about saying hi-di-hi but thought better of it! )

Thank you to Ian for allowing me to post this to you all.

I am writing a business plan to set up a new campsite in the North of England and I'm looking for a little bit of feedback from the people that actually might use my services.

Good luck with your venture! I have just completed the survey. Just realised how different my "ideal" campsite is compared to what I thought it would be before embarking on camping in the spring!

I had the same issues, Kate. I usually camp for a couple of nights at a time, but am away for 10 or 11 trips a year.

There's a campsite next door to our farm. It closed down when I was very little.

But if I had the money, I'd look into it to get it reopened.

The way camping and caravanning has gone over recent years, it's a gold mine just asking to be 'dug' again....

Wow, thank you everyone!

I am overwhelmed by the number of responses I got. I posted the survey on my facebook page as well, and between this site and my facebook wall (no other site or facebook forum replied to my request to post the survey ) I got 121 responses! I honestly didn't expect more than 14 - 15 maybe.

So, the general consensus is that MOST people need a free at the point of use toilet/shower/laundry block with adjustable temperature water - in the analysis it was #1 on most people's lists!

I'm afraid if I get the land I'm trying to buy in Durham (NE England) I can't install a beach or even a swimming pool, but hopefully there are plenty of other attractions to interest people that want to wander and enough to keep people happy during their stays.

The campsite will initially be tents only, to give us time to get the appropriate hard standings and gas/water/electric points added, but I've read each and every comment and have taken heed: Whomever said that the toilet facilities are often sited next to the caravan area - that's some really good feedback and along with quite a few other observations is one I'll make sure to be fair about.

I'm still at the planning stage, so don't have anything firm to show anyone at this stage, but once we're up and running I'll let you know.
