We have been to Kelling Heath last few years and absolutely love it there. A great site, great facilities, decent clientele, and a lovely area.
As we have been there a lot we are looking for a different part of the country to go to, but want a similar sort of site ideally. Maybe in Wales or South England?
Anyone got any suggestions to look at? Will be 2 x family groups going with 2 adults and 2 children in each. One tent and one caravan and if we can pitch together even better.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Wild horses wouldn't get me to Kelling Heath, but many families with children who come to Cornwall like camping at Trewan Hall. But perhaps you don't want to come to Cornwall - though reviews are on here in case you do.
You're limiting your replies to people who know where Kelling Heath is, and have been there to know what facilities it has. Maybe you should just list what you're looking for ?
Arthur, I didn't know about Kelling Heath either, but then I read that it was £11 each to use the indoor swimming pool on top of already expensive site fees, so it quickly became a No from me.

1 - nice site with good clean facilities
2 - child friendly
3 - ideally pub on site, or very close by
4 - ability to pitch a tent and a caravan next to each other
5 - seaside fairly near by
6 - NOT a holiday park such as Butlins or anything
7 - price doesn't matter at all
8 - not a farm site, or one with dogs in main field (have an allergy). Separate camping field for them is fine

Great point - thanks arthurdent.
OK so what we want:
1 - nice site with good clean facilities
2 - child friendly
3 - ideally pub on site, or very close by
4 - ability to pitch a tent and a caravan next to each other
5 - seaside fairly near by
6 - NOT a holiday park such as Butlins or anything
7 - price doesn't matter at all
8 - not a farm site, or one with dogs in main field (have an allergy). Separate camping field for them is fine
The dogs issue might be a problem as most sites allow them but all the other boxes would be ticked if price doesn't matter. Take a look at Ulwell Village caravan site at Swanage.
Dornafield in Torbay would tick most of your boxes, though I'm sure like most sites they allow dogs. One of their photos has a tent beside a caravan. Nice site, if a bit expensive.

There's a nice site at Gwithian on the north Cornish coast that has tents and vans together, is immaculately clean, has a pub opposite and is about a 5-10 min walk to the beach.
Dogs are allowed however, but must be on leads. If the dog thing is really important, you can search for dog-free sites with the search facility on here.
We also love Kelling Heath and have been for quite a few years running - we tried Ninham on the Isle of Wight last year and although its a bit different we really liked it.
1 - nice site with good clean facilities - better than Kelling Heath
2 - child friendly - Yes very
3 - ideally pub on site, or very close by - drive/walk/cycle but not on site.
4 - ability to pitch a tent and a caravan next to each other - yes
5 - seaside fairly near by - yes
6 - NOT a holiday park such as Butlins or anything - yes
7 - price doesn't matter at all
8 - not a farm site, or one with dogs in main field (have an allergy). Separate camping field for them is fine - one of the fields had no dogs in summer holiday period
