Hi,
We stayed at Carreglwyd Port Eynon in the summer.
Although my kids are long grown, plenty of young families enjoying the rock pools ,also a patrolled area of beach for swimming.
Site itself is well kept with EHU available.
Couple of fish and chip shops but no arcades etc.
The beauty is,no cliffs to negotiate, walk out the site and walk on the beach.
Some beautiful beaches nearby also.
Good luck wherever you decide.
Regards,
Greg

I am sure there are places just as good in Scotland,England and Ireland, what made me think you might like it,there were many minibuses turning up from the Midlands and to see those kids seeing what was in the rockpools and just being by the sea it was magical.
We take it for granted being near the sea and tend to forget, for some it is a rare treat.
Happy New Year, and happy camping in 2017.
Regards,
Greg

I think Greg could be being slightly modest, as probably, and according to a hell of a lot of members on here (myself included). One of the best family sites is in Wales. Have a look click here So many of us have been here and rave about it and the surrounding area is stunning. I feel sure that a lot more on here, once they have seen your post will recommend Fforest Fields. (yes I have spelt that right). We drove from Kent on the recommendations of people on here to go there, and it was well worth the journey.

Have a look at Anglesey - fab beaches, lots of places to take kids, and not an arcade in sight unless maybe you go into Holyhead. I've been going there every year since 1997, staying at a site in Benllech which imo is one of the best villages on the island. The site is only a few minutes walk from the village which has everything you need and not far from a great beach. Have a look at my blog and search the archives for lots of photos of various places on the island, it might give you some ideas.

If you try Nantcol Here between Barmouth and Harlech the kids will have plenty to do. The kids love the river But they do get busy in the school hols but not to the point of over crowding. Takes me about 3 1/2 hours (162 miles) from Ciren, longer with a coffee stop. Or a mile further on from Nantcol here Dinas.
Or here for the views above Harlech, though it can be a bit windy.

Don't know how far (Or for how long) you wish to travel but plenty of adventures await all up the west coast of Scotland..
Red Squirrel in Glencoe...Arisaig...Mallaig...And further up Clachtoll beach campsite in Sutherland all (Bar Red squirell) on (Or with easy access) to beach..Be aware all in the middle of nowhere but stunning scenery and the chance to explore...
If too far try the west coast of the Argyll peninsula (campbelltown road) 4-5 campsites all on the beach...Again in the middle of nowhere..But scenery..Sunsets and wild life to knock your socks off!!

Is it campsites you are after? Or non-camping places that offer outdoorsy adventure?
I second the New Forest - I think there is a wooden cabin sort of place called Sandy Balls, otherwise lots of good campsites. You can hire bikes from several centres to cycle through the miles of well marked trails through forest and heathland, there is a company that does canoeing trips along the river from Beaulileu, beaches to swim from, lots of lovely walking. We stayed at the Camping Unplugged site at Lower Lepe - it allows campfires, which is a must for us.
Also the Lake District - a long drive, but a wide choice of campsites (the NT site at Lower Wray is well spoken of) and cabin / pod type places and luxury options - the obvious fell-walking and hiking, second to none, boat hire on lakes, rowing on Ullswater, the Via Ferrata from Honister Slate Mine - a route along the side of Fleetwith PIke with climbing - you have to be roped on and there are bridges made from cables etc. Very adventurous! Also a company called River Deep Mountain High run day courses in climbing, abseiling, canyoning, canoeing, kayaking etc.
