Hi all sorry about this but I am struggling with some specifics to satisfy family members.

For the last few years we have been down to Cornwall (Perranporth, Perran Springs and Tolegate Farm ) but want to try the North Devon surf beaches

Wife wants a nice site, clean, electric hook up, not too big, not too basic !!
Son (16 ) wants good phone reception and wifi.

We have a fairly large tent and am looking for a site for late July/ August.
Can anyone recommend anywhere ?

North Morte Farm, Mortehoe, Woolacombe. (Not sure about EHU though). Spectacular position though.

Been camping in this area for 30 years!

You need to camp in croyde. Croyde bay sits beteeen saunton sands and puttsborough / woolacombe.

Croyde has a massive surfer vibe and superb beach. Village is very picturesque but there are lots of places to eat and drink. They even do street food now!!

We always stay at bay view farm. In our opinion this is the best campsite in croyde. As I say, we've been going 30 years and I know every campsite well just from walking around and talking to people - we know locals!!

Bay view is family run. There's no entertainment (thank god) but it ha plenty of toilets, showers, washing up sinks. There's a chippy / pizza shed on site. It's a pleasant 10 min walk to the beach / 5 min walk to the village. Wifi is shocking even if you pay for it but unless you stay in a house you won't get decent wifi in the area.

There are other sites in croyde. There is the big commercial Ruda which has entertainment, swimming pool, etc. Lots of mobile homes. 2 mins walk to beach but 10 mins to village. Not our cup of tea. Other sites are a lot more basic and very seasonal - some only open on bank holidays. There's one called cherry tree farm which looks ok but doesn't offer the views of bay view.

There isn't a site that's walkable to saunton sands beach. Parking is hefty. There are a couple of sites on the road to saunton but they are basic and I don't really see what they offer as you would struggle to walk to the beach.

There is a caravan only site on puttsborough by extremely basic. Woolacombe has a few larger commercial sites if you want more amenities but I'm not sure you could easily walk to the beach rom any of them. Parking all along that coast is extortionate. Camping in croyde is by far the best bet if you want to get on the beach regularly.

My boys are 9 & 11 and love croyde. My eldest is 11 going on 16 and it's got it going on according to him!!

If you want to know anything else please just ask.

Thank you very much for such a detailed reply, I had Bay View Farm on a tab on the iPad and was leaning towards it but your reply has about convinced me.
Not sure what I am going to do about the wifi issue, if the phone reception was ok I could probably get away with some extra data on the boys account.
I will have a look at some dates and give them a call.
Thanks again.

:-)

I think phone reception was fine if I remember right. We had family staying in the village and kept in touch fine. I'm on o2 and couldn't get any sort of internet though.

Wifi may have improved. They had issues with the mast when we were last there. I kind of saw it as a positive ;)

You can get wifi in the pubs and restaurants in the village so not all bad.
