North west or southwest or the whole whack? It is a long coast.

Anywhere from Donegal to Kerry? you need to be more specific and prepare to be shocked by the prices, however, I can recommend an affordable one (if it's still operating), Croagh Patrick in Co. Mayo, right under the mountain of the same name. There are also some sites which accept the ACSI card, I think Mannix Point in Co. Kerry does.
We stayed last year at Cong, Westport (Mayo), Killybegs (Donegal) and Salthill (Sligo). We were not keen on Cong as we were sited as if in a car park.Scenery around Cong great, but everything is about The Quiet Man film, which was shot there.
We would stay at the others again, particularly Salthill and Westport. We did not notice that the site prices were particularly high. I really appreciated the lower cost of diesel in Republic of Ireland, even with the poor exchange rate.
We have booked ferries again this year, and intend to spend more time in Connemara area.
There is an app which I downloaded from Camping Ireland, and this lists sites under counties. We find this invaluable in planning.
------------- George
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Was that Westport House George? it was EUR35 per night years ago, did not stay, drove down the coast and found the site I refer to above. But we are used to CL/CS prices.
Just noticed that this is in the UK section, Republic of Ireland is abroad.
We did stay at Westport House, only one night and it was very wet weather. Hardstanding pitch was narrow and we did get stuck on the adjoining grass, needing help to get off.I can not remember price but did not think it was as much as €35,
Republic of Ireland is of course abroad, but I replied to original post, which was made here.
We're planning a 2-week trip to the Galway area in July and want to spend at least some of our time on Connemara. At the moment these sites are front runners but we're open to other suggestions!
My suggestion would be - go to a different part of Ireland, unless you have a specific reason for wanting to go to Galway, we didn't like it very much. But then, we didn't like Dublin either, both far too commercialised for our liking. Dingle is nice, and the Ring of Kerry, apart from Killarney.
We have friends in Galway that we haven't seen since they moved over from the UK three years ago. But the plan hopefully is to spend just a few days there and then head out onto Connemara which we're hoping is less spoilt/commercialised?
We've been to Dingle before but I agree it's lovely.
