We are going to Flamigoland in July for a week and we are looking for a site in that area that is close to a town/village within walking distance and also has good walking within that area?
John.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Look at sites around Pickering, its near flamingoland and plenty of walking in nearby forestry. Close enough to visit Scarborough filey whitby etc. Also Goathland, pretty village of Hutton le hole has a campsite too and Rosedale Abbey. Check out campsite search on here.
We used to stay at The Black Bull in Pickering, 10 mins from flamingo land, really nice site with pub attached. There's quite a few dotted around the area, you could try around Helmsley as well, really nice public outdoor pool there.
------------- I went to the top of the mountain...and looked over the other side!
Marfit Head farm is a nice site and has walks not far from the entrance (Hole of Horcum). It's 1-2 miles from Lockton if you class that was walking distance + around 5-6 to Pickering. See the "Trip Reports and Pics" section for some photographs of the area (I was there last month).
We stayed at the flamingoland site years ago. Enjoyed it. Also one east of Pickering is good - Vale of Pickering but it is not near a village and a drive into Pickering itself
