Hi all
I'm new to the site and new to camping!

We are looking to go away in the first week of the school holidays but I'm seriously struggling with where.
We live in London, don't mind travelling up to 3.5/4 hours but we need somewhere with loads of activities for the kids.
By activities though I don't mean on site entertainment or just a pool id like something a bit like centre parcs only without the price tag.
Please can anyone help?
My boys are 9 and 5 and want to be busy ALL THE TIME so figured something like PGL would be ideal only for families.
We go to a lot of caravan sites across the country but end up doing the same thing over and over, a visit to the beach and using on site pool etc but I think this time we need something more.

Sandy Balls in the New Forest has lots of activities for children to take part in - not the cheapest though!

River Dart Country Park, simply brilliant for the kids plus Dartmoor and dozens of beaches. 😀👍

Much further than you want to go, but Dyfed Shire Horse Farm might be worth the journey.

Hi Kvec1507, You said you wanted an adventure. Have you got passports? From the London area you can be playing cricket with your boys on the beach in France in about three hours - a lot quicker than toiling down the A303 to Devon. Good wishes.

I live just a couple of miles away from RDCP so have not stayed there, but there is loads to do. The site has wonderful facilities for kids, it is placed within the Dartmoor National Park but with easy access to A38, fantastic Steam Railway in nearby Buckfastleigh, boat trip down the Dart from Totnes, a different beach each day of the week and the kids will love Pennywell Farm. 😀👍

North Wales - consider Snowdonia? plenty of canoeing, cycle paths, zip wires, bounce below trampoline park in caves, an inland surfing park, mountains and sea etc. etc. And of course a walk or train ride up Snowdon. Cycle the off road Mawddach Trail out to the sea, 12 miles each way and totally off road.

Pant Yr Onnen is on the side of Lake Bala, has its own shoreline / beach from where you can launch canoes and miles of walking. there is a narrow guage railway that runs down to Bala village 3 miles away. All the activities of the National Park are within 40 minutes drive. the site has plenty of space for kids to run around and alongside the shoreline there are play areas with a tyre swing. Its an ideal place for children.

We stayed at Cofton - and are going again this year. We went to River Dart for the day while there and really liked it. If it's sunny, the river play is fantastic for kids. We will go again for a day play. Personally we preferred Cofton because it has the pools on site and a pub, cycling easy for the beach etc.

I did try to get us into Sandy Balls in the summer but they are pretty booked up - and pricey.

Hi have a look at fairthorne manor in Hampshire it's a ymca site and runs activities. During the school holidays they do day camps for kids so could book the kids into those. Activities include kayaking, abseiling etc. They allow campfires as well there is a cycle track for the kids and they never pack the site out so plenty of room. Showers and toilets aren't the poshest but are clean.

Not too bad. 3 hours straight down the M4, then about an hour on the A40 (good road and dual-carriageway for most of it) and A478. I have not stayed at the Farm but my sons really enjoyed their visit. Great reviews too.

Surrounding area full of activities and beaches, climate very different to that of North Wales!

Dan
