We feel we are sadly, coming to the end of our touring life and are looking for smallish sites close enough for us to be able to walk into a village or small town, where we can have a seasonal or half season pitch. If there was a bus stop close by that would also work for us. Any site must be dog and child friendly. We live in the West Midlands so maybe no too far north or the far reaches of Cornwall. Any suggestions, advice?

The Camping & Caravan Club have a few sites that offer storage and will tow your caravan to a pitch for you. I've seen empty caravans on pitches at some of their sites too.
I think a cheaper alternative would be to ask a small site for a year long pitch. There are legal limits to how long you can live in a caravan on one site but as far as I know leaving an empty caravan is not a problem.

We camped for years. In 2019 we bought an Elddis Avante 454. We like it as it is short (6.9m) and fits in our driveway and has a fixed bed.
We had 127 nights away in the caravan in 2023.

Ynys Faig Farm seems to have a few seasonal pitches, although only open March-October.
