You may get more replies Jamster if you indicate what outfit you have and the type of site you prefare, small rural kind of place or all singing dancing large commercial site type.

The Norfolk Broads are divided into two areas, the Northern Broads above Gt. Yarmouth, or the Southern Broads around the areas of Lowestoft and Beccles and into Norwich by boat.

Wroxham is the tourist Captital of the Broads, with many activities available from boat hire and river trips, to the Bure Valley railway line, plus the usual gift shops, takeaways, Fish and Chips, McDonalds ect, as well as Roys of Wroxham, reputed to be the largest village store in the uk, spread across the villages of Wroxham and Hoveton.

We have family who live in the area, and we spend a few weeks each year living and caravanning in the area ourselves. We are also retired helmsmen, and know the waterways very well, both on the Northern and Southern broads, which are a haven for nature and wildlife spotting.

Please feel free to to ask any questions you may have, and l will try and help where l can.

Julia

If you are a member of the C&CC there is a THS at Hoveton 22nd July to 13 Aug at Hoveton, good bus service from outside Roy's. There is also a CS right on the river at Wroxham if you are a MH, not sure about Caravans.

Hi,
If you are a member of the caravan club this is a lovely site.
http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=1861
Bus stop just outside the gate which goes to Great Yarmouth one way or Wroxham and Norwich the other way, cafe across the road and a day boat hire place there too.
Somewhere cheaper and as good is Causeway Cottage Caravan Park
http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=3348
Thier website seems to be down but if I remember correctly they charge from about £12.50 a night but only have about 6 or 8 pitches, it is located at Potter Heigham which has all the amenities most people on holiday would need.

My wife and I (very long in the tooth) are heading to the Broads area in September. We have an inflatable kayak and would really like a site, which has an access point to the water, as we find it heavy going to carry the kayak any distance. Any suggestions, please? Our unit is a caravan.

This one may suit you -

Right on the river Waveney in the south Broads, and you can hire a canoe/kayak there if you don't want to take your own

Many thanks Tigermouse and blueexpo97. It appears that site can't find room for us, but it was worth trying.
