Wonder if the seasoned campers can offer advice, as a newbie with wife & 2 kids in tow , were looking at sites in the lakes/ Cumbria which are inexpensive and child friendly.....for 2-3 nights with car.
With toilet and showers ?
Any advice appreciated.....

While you wait for suggestions from those of us more familiar with the area, have a look on Camp Site Search - reviewers sometimes give an idea of pitch fees, or a site's listing may have a link to the campsite's website and/or an enquiry form.

Hi,
The lakes is a expensive place to stop. If you are a member of either club probably best to look at cl/cs sites.
I would recommend Scotgate park near Keswick.
national trust have a campsite low wray might be worth a look.

To find Certicated Locations (Caravan And Motorhome Club members only - don't usually take tents) and Certificated Sites (Camping and Caravanning Club members only - almost always take tents) using the Map Search, tick the Club CL/CS box (as well as Toilets, Showers etc, which this type of site may not have) then look at any CSs.

I always recommend Red Bank Farm at Bolton le Sands, details and reviews on here. It's a working farm on the shore of Morecambe Bay, very relaxed and not expensive. Near to Morecambe for seaside attractions, or the other way you are not too far from the Lake District for days out.

Red Bank farm is a nice little site, though is more Morcambe than Lakes. The Lakes has unfortunately been out of our price range years. We have 3 kids, trailer & dog and can pay close to £40 per night without hookup. It's a shame, but Yorkshire & North Wales have some great sites at far more realistic prices.. and the pub grub & ice creams are more reasonable too!

Hi there.

How about Turner Hall farm in the Duddon Valley. It's remote so not sure if it's what you want. No shop anywhere near but a good pub.

Good news is that 2 adults 2 kids looks like £18 a night. Basic toilets/showers (clean) £1 a go. Can drive over one of the passes to Eskdale (steam train) or Ambleside if you want civilisation! Proper camping, friendly farm, mountains and streams, (and good pub!).
