We've booked the Thameshead inn for New year, never been so can't recommend as such.
We have been to Duke of York as above for New year, but with previous owners, no fireworks then, but a phone call will put your mind at rest.

You are welcome Lin, another thought, we spent last weekend in Aysgarth, see my profile for the review, the site seems to have different names!
Pub 2 minutes away and Aysgarth falls hotel 10 minute walk, ask them about fireworks perhaps?
The site has hens free roaming so they are clearly animal friendly. They respond to email very quickly.
