Lakeside at North Sommercotes in Lincolnshire

A very clean and well laid out landscaped site, with a lovely indoor pool and spar, fishing lake, play areas and family bar that is fairly quiet most of the time, unless they are holding an event for the owners of the static on site when some top entertainers are booked and admission is often then by ticket only. Certainly more upmarket than the Haven sites and not open to the general public for static van holiday let's, it's for caravan and motor home owners only.

My younger daughter does posh. She rents a canvas lodge at one of the Featherdown Farm sites - she likes camping if it comes with a wood burning stove, an outdoor hot tub, and built in beds. Her big brother sniffs and books Center Parc again - and again.

If you avoid the big bars: The Haven Sites at Hafan Y More or Portmadog really have lovely touring areas, nice pools and plenty to keep the kids happy.

Not quite what you asked, but the Love2Stay in shropshire is getting rave reviews pretty much everywhere

Really like the look of holgates and Plassey, thanks for the recommendations. I just phoned to book Plassey but they aren’t taking bookings until mid Dec!

We are booked at love2stay for a couple of nights before Christmas. Went to look round a few weeks ago as it’s not far from us and it’s really nice

Highlands End might fit the bill.

I saw this but was put off because dogs are allowed on the beach all year....with a child that goes into irrational meltdown with dogs off the lead, a beach that allows dogs is a stressful place :-( otherwise though that site looks just perfect

Perhaps an alternative could be Golden Cap Campsite at Seatown. Dogs are banned all year on Seatown beach and campers at Golden Cap can use the facilities at Highlands End a couple of miles away but a nice walk along the cliff tops.

Dogs are banned on the beach at West Bay from May to September. West Bay is the main resort for Highlands End Campsite and more interesting than Eypemouth beach.

Really like the look of Highlands End so we’ll def book there between May and Sept now I know about West Bay - thanks for the info :-)

I was there about 3 weeks ago and it is a nice clean site in a prime location. Unfortunately the weather deteriorated while I was there and I only stayed one night. You should be fine in a caravan but it can get pretty windy at times on top of the cliffs in a tent.

If you walk eastwards along the cliff top path it takes you straight into West Bay...probably a 20 minute walk. There is also a grass path directly from the campsite which runs alongside the mini golf course and into the town if you don't want to walk along the top of the cliff.

If you walk westwards along the clifftop you will eventually get to Seatown and Golden Cap. If you have the energy to walk to the top of Golden Cap the views are fantastic. Beyond there is Charmouth and eventually Lyme Regis.

It is a lovely stretch of the Dorset coastline.

I had the best steak and kidney pie, chips and mixed veg I have eaten for a long time from the campsite bar restaurant. They do some good home cooked food

I wouldn’t call Plassey posh. I haven’t stayed there because it’s very close to home but I had a look round and thought it was quite run down and expensive. Nowhere near a beach though.

I don’t think caravan parks are posh once you add clubs . We avoid this type of site . Everyone has there own likes and dislikes I would even when our boys were young . Look for a site some where nice with maybe a lovely lively city / town close by then go to a country club to use facilities swim etc . .
A long time ago we used to go to places linear York , Keswick, Cirencester , etc . We used local leisure centres .
But there are some very nice country clubs with lots to do and in some nice locations .

Rudding Park in Harrogate. You don't get much posher than that - check out their brand new spa!!!
Great pub serving meals onsite, Wetherby and Harrogate within a short drive and great for shopping.
Nearest seaside would prob be Scarborough/Filey which is approx 1.5hrs drive away and both are a great day out.

Nb if you google Rudding Park it will bring up the hotel/spa and doesn't mention the campsite which is in the grounds. You need to google rudding park campsite for the actual campsite part.
You can book the spa/afternoon tea/golf/restaurant etc through the hotel itself which is literally a couple of hundred yards from the pitches.

I still haven’t booked anywhere for Easter!! We went to love2stay for a couple of nights before Christmas and it was lovely.
Am swaying towards somewhere not too far (within an hour) of Southampton if anyone knows anywhere? I have a very avid little footballer daughter and England v wales ladies are playing at Southampton over Easter so if we could encourporarate that into our stay she would be thrilled!!
