Manorafon Farm at Abergele (sorry, can’t do a link) The beach isn’t up to much but you can get a bus by the site entrance to Prestatyn or Rhyl. 10 minutes walk into town, Tesco, pubs, shops etc. The Bull does good food. The site is in the grounds of a ruined castle so plenty of walking and a golf course. It’s one of our favourite sites for a quick diet-away, being about 35 minutes from home.
Beddgelert Forestry site was good, lovely walks, narrow gauge railway to Caernarfon. I’m not sure if the take tourers now as there are plans to make it more of a static park or something, which is a great shame. There are a couple of others there but I don’t know anything about them so can only recommend the village.
Valley of the Rocks, Anglesey. Near Holyhead for supplies (otherwise, don't bother). Pub next door and a lovely beach within walking distance, easy to get to all parts of the islands (it's actually on Holy Island which is joined to Anglesey by causeways).

We Like Coed Helen in Caernarfon. It overlooks the castle and a 5/10 minute walk into town for pubs/shops, but quiet of an evening on site. The shower block is fine, not the 'poshest' in the world but for us is fine as the location is great for us. On site restuarant ok. Easy drive to various days out.
Camping in the Forest (CITF), which manages Beddgelert Caravan & Camping Site under a License Agreement from Forest Holidays, will cease to operate the campsite from 31 October 2017.
Forest Holidays – a company which operates a number of luxury cabin sites throughout the UK – exercised its option earlier this year to seek planning permission to develop the Beddgelert site as a cabins site.
This planning permission has recently been approved, and Forest Holidays will take over operation of the Beddgelert site from 31 October 2017.
CITF considered and studied various options for maintaining a touring camping presence at Beddgelert. However, it concluded that it is not operationally or financially sustainable for it to run with significantly reduced touring camping pitches combined with a cabin development.
You could try Cae Du in Beddgelert- within walking distance to the town for pubs/food. You can also catch the steam train from here up to Caernarfon but many other attractions will need a drive. We visited the Llyn peninsula for the day from here easy enough, but you could also head south for Harlech.

Thanks Fiona, I wasn’t sure if they were actually closing the whole thing. I thought they were keeping some of it for tourers.
That was the original plan, was to keep a certain amount of pitches for tourers and tents. Shame that they decided not to. It was approved by those not from the area. From what I remember from my news letter, as i signed the petition against it. Means less money for local businesses and tourism, the locals are not happy. It was a fab site. Cae Du is on the edge of the village and there are a few sites up the road from Beddgelert CC

Have you looked at Dinerth hall? Its midway between Llandudno & Rhos on sea, its a working farm so please dont expect anything fantastic the loos & showers are old but clean & functional, the site itself has beautiful views & is handy for the 10 min bus service which goes right up the coast from Llandudno to Rhyl, there is a pub (the Queens) about 15 minutes walk away down a country lane that does lovely food if slightly expensive & a chip shop (Frydays) 5 Mins drive away

Another vote for Manorafon Farm at Abergele. Really lovely site and as said above short walk into the town which has a large Tesco, some nice pubs and fish and chip shops. I would definately stay there again.

A vote for Manorafon from me too, it's one of my favourite sites. My adult son came with me when I went there in August, he'd never been before and was quite impressed.

In September we stayed at the Morris Leisure site at Llanberis. Really excellent campsite with all weather pitches. Easy walk into the village with lots to do including the Electric Mountain, Llanberis Lake Railway, Slate Museum of Wales and of course the Snowdon Mountain Railway.

Hi, looking for recommendations for a site that is within walking distance of pubs/eateries and some sites to see. Ideally near the coast. Thanks
