After advice on where to stop in filey I have narrowed it down to Centenary Way , Blakey House CL and Saxdale House Farm.
We like to be close to public transport and have a dog friendly pub in walking distance.
Liked the look of Centenary way close to town, but bad review on state of toilet block have put me off.
Blackley House good for bus stop and pub but looks small might be a little cramped.
Saxdale House good reviews but don't think will be safe to walk to bus stop and pub.
Any info would be
appreciated.
Thanks

I wouldn't let one bad review of the Centenary Way toilets put you off, there are many more good ones. I've stayed there more than once and had no complaints at all, I loved the site and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again if I was camping in that area.

we stayed at Centenary way this year it was particularly wet and the toilets where dirty, they put a sign up to apologise, they were also difficult to get water hot and you have to pay extra for them, we arrived early and was supprised to find that the check in and check out times are the same so we had to park up in a car park and wait for our pitch to come free!! the pitches are a good size and well laid out, the tea room only opened at the back end of our stay but it wasn't inviting to sit out.Its close to town we found a quicker walk through the caravan park next door, Bronte vinery do excellent meals, and allow dogs inside.

Saxdale House is a lovely site but it's not ideal for walking to a pub, you would have a bit of a trek to Hunmanby which is the closest place with a pub. It's doable but wouldn't be an easy walk. There are no paths on Bartindale Road. Same with the bus situation you would have to walk into Hunmanby. I can't comment on the other sites as we haven't stayed there.
Hope this helps.

We liked Centinary Way when we stayed. Didn't use the car as everything was in walking distance. Owners extremely helpful. The Fairy garden tea room on site is also lovely. I woulld stay on this site again no hesitation.

There is also the Council owned campsite on Filey Brigg, they take Caravans, Motorhomes and tents, and are within easy walking distance into the town centre with a choice of pubs, shops, eateries ECT, and the main bus and railway stations are a few mins walk away.

We looked at the Centuary way site last summer, but we're put off by the steep pitches in some areas, and the facilities looked like they were in need of refurbishment in some areas. I understand that the place has recently been taken over by Haven, so if it turns into another Blue Dolphin type site it certainly is not one we will be using anytime soon.

We’ve stayed at centenary way a couple of time although admittedly a few years ago so I might not be remembering properly, but I think it’s a pretty flat and small site. I don’t remember any steep pitches. And it’s small and tucked between other sites, are you sure haven would purchase it? Really not their type of thing? Are you talking about the one in filey?

We loved it by the way. Pleasant walk to everywhere - beach, prom, Town. Yes the toilets are a little basic but what do you expect for the price? It’s not going to be underfloor heating, and all singing all dancing!! I’ve paid more and had worse.

I was thinking the same as you. It's not that long since I stayed there and as far as I can remember, and looking at the photos of the site which I took at the time, it's a very flat site and the pitches are all level. It's not a big site and imo it's not the type of place that Haven would want to buy.

Apologies, l may have confused it with another site we looked at on the road down to Flamborough head. We have been using a CL near Filey for several years now, spending an average of 42 nights there throughout the season, mainly in week or a fortnight blocks.

However, due to the place having grassed pitches, and the amount of wet weather we get over early and late season, this little place turns into a churned up muddy mess and is difficult on foot even getting into the car due to my poor mobility. This season we have decided not to visit until the mid summer, and will use a hardstanding pitch for all our early and late season bookings for 2018.
