hi, just bought another motorhome ! woo hoo ! we did have a small campervan based on a Honda stepwagon that was far too small for us (and the dog), we hated making beds up every night at our age - perfectly fine if we were younger ! so weve bought ourselves a four berth Trigano motorhome. we're still keeping the static in france but will try to see a lot more of the uk using the moho.
the reason for my post is to ask for information on free parking sites at pubs, restaurants etc. I've found a couple of websites and I am aware of the all the aires books for france etc.
from what ive read, the pub or restaurant stopovers offer one night in the car park for free, with the (not compulsory) purchase of an evening meal and/or breakfast, which would suit us perfectly, not having to cook etc, they tend to limit numbers to one or two mobile homes per night and don't normally offer waste emptying facilities etc, but use of their facilities during opening hours is free.
has anyone any experience or can recommend such stopovers?
ADMIN - perhaps a 'sticky thread' might be the answer
or a 'new' specialist search for sites to include free pub stop over sites for motorhomes or campervans ???

Hi
Research and the possibly invest in the Britstops guided book.
A manual fee of £27 gives access to over 700 free overnight stop overs in mainly pub car parks but also farm shops and vineyards.
------------- It's only an expensive hobby when it's parked on your Drive....use it, love it , live it.
re - britstops - I was hoping to get members recommendations as opposed to just buying a book - I suggested an additional category in the site search area might be useful ?
In my experience we just turn up and ask. It is doubtful if any pub is going to turn away business.
There is also a website PUBSTOPOVERS which I find useful.

MisterB1959, Britstops is a directory, updated and printed annually listing all of the places that have SIGNED UP to the publication and offer free overnight parking for MH & C/Vans and Caravans. We have never bought a copy of this directory.
I am unsure exactly what you mean, "I was hoping to get members recommendations as opposed to just buying a book". Do you mean UK Campsite members? Or do you mean the people who have bought the Britstops Directory?
sorry if I was unclear. I meant I was looking for recommendations from members who have actually stayed at sites and wondered if it was worthwhile a list being complied on this forum, which I have been responding to static and campsites abroad threads for a few years.
rabbitboy, thanks, I have that one saved in my favourites !!
Hi. I've only done this officially once, when there were not many camping options.
If you ever have a need to visit Sheffield then The 3 Merry Lads does exactly what you want. A pub with hook up if you want(not sure how much but a few quid I guess). If you eat an evening meal (pretty good) then it is free to stop.
