I am looking for some campsites within about 30 miles(max an hour and a half drive) from Liverpool which have direct access to local walks or woodland.

We have used Delamere site and also Hayfield Site but I'm struggling to see any others which we can use for quick 1 or 2 night weekends

If we are only staying for 1 or 2 nights, we want to be able to park up the van and not have to drive until we pack up to go home

Just over 50 miles and slightly over an hour via the A55, one of my favourites Manorafon Farm site at Abegele. Traffic free walking direct from the site past the old castle and up through the woods, and just 15 minutes walk down to the beach where you can walk for miles in either direction along the North Wales cycleway. Also the site is only a few minutes walk into town and a big Tesco open until midnight if you need any late night supplies. If you have kids they'll love this site as there's lots of animals for them to see and feed.

Have a look at Home Farm next to Rivington reservoir if you are in C&CC.
We have walked in that area (there's a go ape not far away)but not stayed at that site as it was full on the weekend we wanted to go, but we intend to try again.

We make it to Bala from the Wirral in 1hr 20m. Pen y Bont Camping and Caravanning has loads of walks atraight from the site and is just a 15 minute walk from the shops, pubs and cafes of Bala. No need to drive anywhere.

Hollingworth Lake near Rochdale, easy drive up the M62. Walk into Littleborough with shops there. Walk round the lake or into the woods or on the canal. Pub and restaurant nearby. Railway station in Littleborough on Manchester Leeds line.

We actually stayed for a weeeknd a couple of years ago at manorafon farm. The castle and some of the woods were closed off though and we couldn’t access them?

Maybe because some parts of the castle are undergoing the slow task of being renovated. I stayed at Manorafon last August bank holiday and though you had to keep dogs on a lead past the golf course and the castle (parts of it are now open to the public daily between 9am and 4pm but believe me it isn't worth the £5 per person entrance fee) it was possible to walk all the way up into the woods.

TheCAMC site at Bury? It’s in the middle of a country park with a good pub at the gate and easy access to town.

I’d vote for Abergele too. I thought the castle was interesting.

CMC site at the Wirral Country Park is adjacnt to a walking path.Its a disused railway line,miles of walks.

We stayed at the site at Abergele also in Sept 2017. We walked up through the castle, the caves through the woods to the next town which had a few pubs and the best fish & chip shop. Not far from the beach which was dog friendly but peddles.


There are signs saying no entry because of the golf course but the caravan site said it was fine and there are proper paths
