Re Loch Lomond - have a look at the Site Search map, as there aren't that many sites. And read a few reviews.
Lomond Woods is not in sight of the loch, which I find disappointing. But you can get a train into Glasgow from Balloch. Owned by a chain.
Luss C&CC will give you views, easy accessibility on the west shore, pretty Luss village (and Highland Games if you pick the right time to visit) but road noise from the busy A82.
Two on the east side are less accessible - hilly, bendy, steep roads on that side (at the same time at Balmaha) but you get peace & quiet, the adjacent West Highland Way, water lapping up to your pitch, boat launching. They are Milarrochy Bay C&CC (an open sloping site) and nearby Cashel 'Camping in the Forest' site (more shady amongst trees).
There is at least one CL on the east side, but as we're not CC members, I can't speak for it.
I'm not wanting to open a debate about midges, as there are plenty of threads about them, but they are particularly fierce at Loch Lomond so go prepared. And if you have a dog, pack a Tick Hook as the dog is guaranteed to get at least one due to the number of deer. You might too, so use the buddy system (check each other).
------------- 2024 = 20 sites / 41 nights. 2023 = 9/23. 2022 = 13/35. 2021 = 11/29. 2020 = 4/20. 2019 = 13/35. 2018 = 20/33. 2017 = 10/22. 2016 = 19/33. 2015 = 15 sites / 27 nights. Didn't count 1976 to 2014.
