We are travelling up to Inverness at th beginnings of June in our camper for a family party. We are stopping for a few days on the way up at Loch Lomond but struggling to find a stop on the way home for a couple of nights to break up the drive.
We usually try not to do more then 4-5 hours driving in one go.
Any suggestions please?
We have 2 Smallish children and are staying at the camping in the forest site in Loch Lomond on they way there. We usually go for campsites with direct access to woodland/walking rather than the “haven holidays” type but also do very occasions stay at haven type sites also.

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Witches Craig just east of Stirling; go into town to visit the Castle (take your English Heritage cards), and climb the Wallace Monument. Cracking site under the hills, you can order morning rolls too.
Just over 5 hours drive from Inverness is Sykeside at Brotherswater in the Lake District; not too far from the M6 turn off at Penrith. This is a beautiful site, one of my favourites, and the walk through the native woodland along the west shore of Brotherswater is stunning, and just the thing for small children, with pebbly beaches along the way. A beautiful spot.
And the pub is child friendly, if you want a meal.

Dalston Hall nr Carlisle.
They don’t accept children anymore at Dalston.
I've seen children playing on the equipment in the big play area. But that was last year. I asked the owner, and he said they were visiting relatives in the statics. Best to check on booking, if the site location suits.
Green Acres, Houghton, Carlisle. Five mins from J4 of M6.
Asda 10 mins away and Carlisle 15 mins. Beautifully clean well maintained and level site situated in the countryside.
Green Acres is nowhere near half way between Liverool & Inverness, I'd say - only about 2 hours from home, another 5 to go. Don't remember if it had a good play area.
We ended up staying at Blair Drummond, was very pleased with the site. In my top 5 campsites ever. Fab for children and adults, good all round and brill location almost half way between inverness and Liverpool.
