Hi everyone I am looking for any suggestions for a place to drop our van off (23.5ft twin axle)on Sunday am and pick up the same day around 5pm we are out with the van for the weekend in Sea-houses but have an event to attend in the centre of Newcastle before heading back up to the Scottish borders. Unfortunately the site we are on has no space for a late departure so hence my problem. Secure lorry / coach parks or other safe parking areas will be fine we will be putting all the locks on whist we are away.
Thanks
Andy

which site is it your going to in seahouses? I would have thought they had an area you could have left the van in away from the pitch ready for collecting later in the day?

It is a small site with very limited space. We have stayed there on several occasions and they are really nice and to be fair they did make an offer of a pitch that I could book through to the Monday but leave on the Sunday evening but this was at a full day rate which I was not really happy to pay a full days for what would be in reality an extra 6 hours.
There isn't a proper services as such between seahouses and newcastle and leaving it in a layby isn't really to be recommended
There are few lorry parks in Newcastle (Ord Street being one I know of) but you might feel happier dropping off before hitting the city itself. You wont be allowed to use any of the council run car parks apart from the Ord Street one which accepts HGVs, Motorhomes, Caravans etc
There are probable some privately owned ones but you'd need to look in the suburbs as the town centre ones will all have height/width restrictions
My solution of choice would be to find a great pub with a decent car park, contact them in advance and arrange to leave the caravan there on the promise of buying a meal from them on your return. A lot of pub owners would be happy at that.
I dont know if they'll be able to accommodate you but a handy place to stop would be the Beefeater Restaurant Annitsford Rd, Seghill, Annitsford, Cramlington NE23 7QA
Thanks HighSlayer I had looked at coach parks in Newcastle and saw Ord parking but was not sure if they accepted caravans it is not clear on there web site so I may give them a call tomorrow to check.
It is really surprising how few caravan sites are around New castle given how big a city it is. I have spotted a site just outside Anlwick that may let me drop off and collect later will give them a call tomorrow first as it would be better than dragging the van all the way in to Newcastle.
Thanks
Andy

No problem Andy - and yes, in fact it can be really difficult to find campsites between Newcastle and North Yorkshire, especially on the coast.
There are several on the way down from Alnwick though
County Durham is difficult too - I've yet to find a site I like anywhere on the Durham coastline or close to Durham itself. Going out to Teesdale, Weardale or even towards Darlington there are some lovely sites though
Thanks to all who offered advice I did manage to get a one day storage on a site just outside Alnwick One day drop of and pick up the same day came to the very good price of £8 at Greenfield Moor Farm site this was a CL site but is now open as an independent site. Chap I dealt with could not have been nicer or more helpful we walked the site and found a good corner. We shall probably visit the site to stay over as it is perfect for visiting Alnwick and Morpeth.
