Hi all,
Bought our first motorhome today, collect it tomorrow :-). Been long time tenters, with a few years with a folding camper for a couple of longer trips.
Next weekend (Sat 9th June), will not only be it's maiden voyage, but it'll be on a preplanned Dad and sons trip away with my 8 year old, my brother and nephew (4 year old). My brother and nephew will be in their T5.
I'll be travelling up from just south of Exeter and my brother will be travelling down from a few miles east of Bath - somewhere roughly in the middle would be ideal.
I want to avoid miles of narrow lanes on my first trip and ideally a site that is fairly level.
Current favourite is Petruth Paddocks, Cheddar - which allows campfires, is easy walking distance into town and near an off road cycle route. It looks a big site though and I'm unsure how easy access is.
Any other recommendations?
Thanks

We have yet to take our caravan to Somerset but the Petruth site you mention looks really good. Their website shows it to have easy access of the A371 and frankly if up to 200 caravans, tents and motorhomes a night can use it then it can't be that hard to reach!
Our favourite sites in Wiltshire (though perhaps closer to Bath than you were looking for) are Piccadilly Caravan Park in Lacock (easy access, level ground and a short walk into Lacock village) and Fairwood Lakes Holiday Park in Dilton Marsh (a few more miles of country lanes but nothing too challenging for your motorhome. The play facilities are awesome and the children won't ever want to leave)!

Our final suggestion is a bit outside your suggested area, but if you were prepared to head west on the M48 into Gloucestershire (only about half an hour from the old Severn Bridge) then the Forest and Wye Valley site near Coleford is our single favourite site so far. It's just friendly full stop, the facilities are lovely, the area is beautiful and the home-made curry (available to order most Friday and Saturday evenings) is to die for!

Many thanks for your recommendations, I’ll have a good look.
I love this site for helpful advice. I joined one of the bigger motorhome Facebook groups yesterday and posed a similar question. Only response was - there are countless options available.
Good point about the site catering for loads of other caravans etc and therefore should be okay to get to!
Picking the motorhome up yesterday did entail facing any concerns about narrow access and roads anyway. I had to turn off the drive between two stone cottages and the gap was reall quite tight. I then drove down one of the narrower A roads (from Mortonhampstead to Bovey Tracey). A bit of a baptism of fire, but all survived unscathed. Even came up behind a BMW going slower than I was!
