Hi I’m looking for recommendations for Devon for next summer. Husband & 3 dogs. Touring caravan. We don’t particularly like big sites with clubs etc but willing to keep open mind. We love Cornwall & usually stay either Padstow or St Ives but want a change. I’ve loiked at Hidden Valley, Stowfird Meadows, Damage Barton etc but can’t decude. Happy to split our holiday into 2 sites if fab ok recommend week north & week south. Nor do we mind having a base site & driving to places.   I’m not usually as indecisive but though wood ask recommendations to help me make up mind. Many thanks

Have a look at Appledore Farm, 2 miles from Okehampton. Up to 3 dogs allowed at no charge and a lovely fenced dog walking area (full of bunnies). Central Devon and convenient to the A30 . Lovely owners and superb facilities.

If you are looking for somewhere to walk, lovely facilities and not crowded. Halse Farm in Exmoor, reviewed on here. Dogs welcome.
It’s the Somerset side of Exmoor, near to market town of South Molton, Lynton and Lynmouth, North Devon coast (all Devon), Minehead, and Porlock (Somerset). National Trust properties within easy reach.
On a summers evening the views over the valley are lovely.
We love it!

Hidden Valley is a nice site but some way from the coast and nestled against a fairly high hill. Wouldn't think you'd get very good sunsets there. Stowford Meadows is a large family site open all year. Again it's some way away from the coast. The last time we stayed there was on a tarmac pitch long and narrow. The caravan stood on the tarmac with the car in front or on the grass and the the awning on the grass bedside the van. A strange arrangement. Not all pitches like that though.Damage Barton has always been a favourite of ours with direct access to the coastal path.the touring area is not large but nicely laid out and maintained and toilets first class. The camping fields here are the best as they have fantastic views of the coast and Bristol Channel. one of our other favourite sites is just over the border in Cornwall - Wooda Farm Park at Bude. About 11/2 miles from the beaches but fantastic views out over the town towards the sea.

Hi Leeroy1982- we stayed at Gwithuan at Hayle. Love it. You can walk through back of site over dunes into beach. Great for surf & Rock pools.   Every few caravans/tents seemed to have wetsuits hanging outside. Polmanter was another good site which friends love. E can’t go there though as we got 3 dogs & they don’t accept 3.   In Padstow we absolutely love Padstow Touring Park as it meets all our requirements.

Thanks everyone for all the comments. As mentioned Hiddden Valley & Stowfird Not our preferred options but were willing to look at them. I will have a look at Wooda Farm Farm & Damage Barton. Suzac - did you stay at C & CC or CAMC site?

Sorry FNot getting myself confused ! We have stayed many times at two sites in Mortehoe - Damage Barton and also North Morte Farm. As you infer Damage Barton has two sections CAMC and C&CC. We are members of the CAMC but prefer the lower part of the site which is the C&CC area. The CAMC have however had a new toilet block built in the past couple of years. The C&CC facilities are also very good though . The walk down and back to the coast path rewards you with spectacular views.Alternatively drive down to Mortehoe, park in the village car park and walk from there.
The other site mentioned North Morte Farm is also a great favourite. It has spectacular views from the camping field. The caravan field is relatively small but well maintained and toilets are excellent.

Try the Kingsbridge/Salcombe area, lovely, plenty of sites to chose from We prefer the smaller CLs/CSs, but there are larger sites if that's what you prefer.

Hi Mrs Bounce are there any if the smaller sites you would recommend? As it’s likely to be end August therefore school holidays we do not really want to have loads of kids running mad around the vans..

We stayed at Cholwells CL, half way between Kingsbridge and Salcombe (left off the main road, don't use your sat nav!) we liked it, but there are no real views if that's what you want. Bonce (inverted snob), not Bounce!
