Looking for a campsite in either the Lakes or North Wales that will allow my football mad 12 year old to play football. We used to go to the C&C site in Keswick, which I love, but I fell out with them last year over their blanket rule of 'no ballgames', and lack of common sense in applying it.

I know this is not the area you are looking for but the CMC site in Moreton in Marsh has a massive children’s play area, part of which is set up as a small football pitch with proper goal. This is separated from the caravans by massive hedges and the other play equipment. The area has got smaller this year due to them installing a load of new glamping pods on the old dog walk field and moving the dog walk field to the old football pitch, and the football pitch to part of the main play area but it is still pretty big.

Check out Cefn Cae in Rowan south of Conwy.
About 3 years since we visited but in the huge non-electric field they had a goal post.
The owners have children and are very friendly and helpful, give them a call to check?

Not in your search area, but Braidhaugh at Crieff is next door to the town's rugby pitch.
I'm only mentioning it because there must be other sites closer to you that similarly have a public sports next door if not actually part of the site. That might open up more choice.
Good to hear of a lad that enjoys exercise, rather than sitting with his thumbs glued to a gadget all day.

It's one of the main reasons we go camping - I refuse to let him bring the Xbox! Now the daughter on the other hand...

I think it's seasonal but we found a lovely little site near Penrith not far from the lakes. A small village called Lazonby the village play park is adjacent to the site. The village school field can be accessed during school holidays which has football goals and next to that is an outside heated swimming pool. We will definitely be going back next year.

Ravenglass CCC site? Not on site bur 2 mins down the lane is a field with football nets. Rather rough and ready and muddy in wet weather - but then that’s what most pitches seemed to be like when my lad was playing football!

Plas Uchaf in Anglesey has great playing facilities for kids. Sectioned off area for football, again one for tennis and table tennis, separate playpark and small woodlands next to playpark. Very short drive (roads too narrow to walk with kids and beach paraphanalia) to the local beach and so much to do in the area.
