Hi all,
I'm in a similar position, too. Separated from the wife and now living with my mother, but need my own space so looking for somewhere to keep a touring caravan, which I don't even have yet! I've been researching how to live in a caravan on camping and caravan sites. I've read and watched YouTube videos until my eyes have nearly popped out of my head! It's quite confusing, and when I had thought, today, that I had at last understood it all, something else cropped up to confuse me again!
Anyway, this is what I've found out so far, IF I have understood it correctly. As already mentioned by someone else on here, people staying in non-seasonal caravans are only allowed to stay on a site for a maximum of 27 nights.
"DURATION OF STAY CARAVANS
Except for Seasonal Caravans, caravans are permitted to stay for a maximum of 27 nights." (Source 1).
Apparently this applies to the caravan owners NOT the actual caravan. The caravan can stay where it is, BUT the owners must vacate the site for 48 hours before they are allowed to return. Also, when asked for a permanent address for various correspondence, and you don't want to give your previous address (like me), or you don't have one, you can give a family member's or friend's (with their consent, of course). Furthermore, if these rules are adhered to, NO Council Tax would need to be paid. (Source 2 and Source 3).
The bit that caught me out today was about "seasonal caravans", as opposed to non-seasonal.
"“Seasonal Caravans” means those caravans that are situated on the Site for the season or part of the season." (Source 4) (same as Source 1). Not sure what this means. Who owns these caravans? How long is the ""season", 3 months?
As for suitable sites to keep a tourer caravan, I'm still looking into it. I'm looking on camping and caravan websites, like this one, placed an advert on Gumtree, and sent emails to caravan sites. I will also be approaching various landowners, such as farm-owners. Anyone else have any ideas?
Anyway, this is how I see it all, so far. If I'm wrong, please let me know.

Hi folks, it's me again.
Just a quick update to my above original "post". Last night I did some online (isn't everything?) research on "seasonal pitches", which I didn't quite understand. So, if you want to keep your caravan on a "seasonal pitch", the time interval and price varies greatly. In my local area (20 miles radius), the duration allowed was between 6 and 12 months, and the prices ranged from £1250 to £2100. On the caravan websites I couldn't see anything about how long a person was allowed to stay in the caravan.
However, today, I did receive an email from a caravan site I contacted yesterday, and they said that, "All pitches are for occasional use only." But what does "occasional" actually mean?
Further research revealed: "You can stay for up to 21 days per stay as per our usual Club site rules. Make sure there's a minimum of 48 hours before you come back for your next stay, as our pitches are for recreational purposes only." (Source: The Caravan Club).
Presumably this doesn't apply only to The Caravan Club, but all caravan sites, as I have also seen it mentioned elsewhere online.
