Campsites and Caravan Parks in the UK

Topic: Pembrey Country Park camp site

Just wondering if anyone stayed at this site in the past year and how they found it. We are looking at possibly going in August. I have looked at reviews and only one from last year. I see also there is a caravan club site, but looking at their booking it appears all weekends are booked up on a serviced pitch although available on weekdays - no good for a 2 week holiday. Hoping to find a site that isn't too noisy, particularly of an evening. Thank you for any help.

The country park has no facilities unless you mean the caravan club site . This is just out side the entrance to the country park . It’s a nice location you can cycle or walk to the beach . Lots to do in the park popular with children especially in the holidays .
If it says full just keep phoning you find that sometimes the have space.

Thank You, there appear to be two campsites a council one and a caravan club one, I presume they are next door to each other.

the campsite within the country park has toilets and showers and "I believe" hookups, the beauty about staying on this one is you don't have to pay at the gate to take your car to the beach carpark.
the caravan and motorhome club site "just outside the gates" you have to pay to take your car in . though you can cycle or walk for free

The council run site inside the country park has a toilet block and electric hook up (and has done for a few years now)

The CC site just outside the gate is up to usual CC standards. Your comment about no serviced pitched confuses me as ALL the pitches have EHU, with the fully serviced pitched having their own water and waste.

The website for the site within the Country Park says "The park caters for all types of camping, with a total of 320 natural grass pitches, including electric and non electric pitches."
So it's BIG!
They opened a new amenity block in 2018, which means they're investing in the site, that's good. It's becoming increasingly rare for Councils to have their own sites - many that I know are now community owned & run for cost saving reasons.

Thank you for all your replies. We went to visit both sites yesterday and decided the caravan club one is more to our liking.

The council one as mentioned is huge, with new amenity block. Pitches looked as if they could be fairly close together. We just didn't like the size of it and as we can only holiday in peak season felt it would be too busy and buzzy. Children would also have to leave the site for the play area. The country park itself has lots to offer.

The caravan club site although smaller looked more spacious and had a small children's play area on its own site, so we wouldn't necessarily have to accompany the children if they wanted to go on some swings.
