hi, does anyone know what is happening with the retail park that is going to get built next to scotch corner caravan site,will this have an impact the the caravan park itself.

Plans should be on record with the relevant planning authority. If you don't know the name of the actual retail site, search for the name of the campsite and if there are any planning implications for the site (assuming it is adjacent to the retail park), this will be found using related documents.

as of now, there is nothing happening on the site other than a huge sign informing people of its intended proposal. 2020 opening? I doubt that more likely 2022.

as for its impact on the scotch corner site? looking at the planning video it still shows the site being used but in reality who even now uses that site? those looking for somewhere to stop overnight maybe but there are plenty of far better sites in the immediate area

Did it? A wee word of thanks would have been courteous in that case.

Sorry if you found my suggestion too onerous but, if you can't visit planning offices in person, the Interwebs the only way to find out what's going on. Yes, it's a pain in the proverbial but I gave you the way to find out for yourself what the statutory authorities say (they are the ones planning authorities consult first) and then there will be the actual plans available - in fact everything you need. It will also tell you key dates, letters of objection and the lot but you need to put the work in.

Passed there yesterday. For a 2020 opening, there's no sign of action yet.
I found an April 2019 plan online (at richmondshiretoday.co.uk) of a Gretna size development with a massive area of car parking. It takes up all the area from what looks like a caravan site due south of the hotel, as far as the A6108 to Richmond.
As the map helpfully states, the nearby A1(M) carries 31.8m people a year - even a small proportion of that is a big market. That's a lot of vehicles too, I'd think the caravan park must be noisy but I haven't read the reviews.
