There are some very nice scenic areas of the Derbyshire Peak district and Dales too. Pretty little towns and villages, plus vantage points where you can see for about 40 miles down the Derwent valley on a clear day.
Try following the High Peak trail, heading up to one of the reservoirs such as Carsington or the Lady Bower. Visit one of the many stately homes,Kedleston hall, Haddon hall, or roam the landscape and grounds around Chatsworth house, or call into Matlock bath, a mini resort with all the attractions of the seaside without the sea, again set in stunning scenery, and a mecca for Motorbike enthusiasts of all ages at the weekends, who love to gather and show off their highly prized and polished pride and joy!

If you like visiting coastal/fishing villages, I was impressed by the East Neuk of Fife recently. Lower largo (not a fishing village but good), Elie (big beach), St. Monan's, Pittenweem, Anstruther and Crail on one stretch of coastline. Then there's St. Andrew's, and over the Tay bridge and up the coast is Arbroath as well. The landscape isn't what you'd call dramatic, being gently rolling, fertile and well-farmed, but the coast is interesting. Not sure about campsites, as I stayed in a cottage this time.
Closer to home, Betws-y-Coed to Capel Curig or Llanberis has a lot to offer, landscape-wise, with good views of Snowdon, weather permitting. There are a number of sites in the area from which to choose.
I could go on...!
