We started our tour of Scotland early may,we are now on our 7th site and every site we have been to has been fully booked.
When speaking to people with dogs as do we 70% say they would have been in France if it wasn't for the uncertainty with brexit and the dog passport situation.
If you intend just heading up there book up first

Where were you in Scotland - west coast? I've just been to a few places last week and have had no problems trying to book for next week. Some sites did seem busier than I would have expected, but still had spaces.

I did notice quite a lot of hired motorhomes heading north.

We are on North coast,C&MC site fully booked by teatime but plenty of space elsewhere on CL's and small camperstops.

Working up East coast in May we had no problems and have been on the islands for the last 3 weeks and was fine getting on sites.

Now we are back on mainland have just booked ahead for next 4 nights, across the North and no problems.

Would appreciate hearing where you have been so we know in advanace what to expect - thank you

We have been to Oban and the caravan club site had a full sign every night,
Loch carron wee campsite full most nights
Dunnet bay again full most nights,cashel very busy,brora full 2 out of 3 nights there,altnaharra all electrics in use and now at rosmarkie which is very busy
Speaking to the wardens on these sites and they all say this year is very busy

Peebles (Rosetta) was almost empty last week. Loads of room at Mortonhall (Edinburgh). Kirkcudbright had room last weekend, and that was Whit. They're all Independant sites - in my experience, Club sites fill up because some members will only stay on Club sites because "you know what you get". I read letters in the C&CC mag by people whose tour of Scotland was by linking up the Club sites.
But - thanks for the warning. Always useful to be reminded not to take getting a pitch for granted.

It was just an observation travelling round.
The sites we chose were club sites except the wee campsite.but we were surprised how busy everywhere is which a lot is down to the NC500.
Never seen so many motorhomes

If you don't want to book ahead, you need to be flexible on the type of site i.e. not just Club (whichever one) sites, arrive early and choose less popular places. Oban, for example, is naturally difficult, being a hub for many island ferries and popular with day excursions to Iona and Staffa.

You'll also find it easier if you can manage without EHU for a night.
