I'm looking for a site near the Cornish coast and wonder if any of you know any little gems. We have stayed many times at Marazion and St Ives so we are looking for somewhere different. Not looking at Newquay but don't mind near there. We've stayed at Trevella at Crantock so not there as it's not a site we would go back to.

We need good toilets, showers and a pub nearby that is walkable to. We don't want somewhere totally remote. We don't have children and do like peace and quiet. We won't be going at the peak times but don't like all singing all dancing sites anyway. We won't use the facilities. We just like good facilities (toilets, showers, washing up), nice and quiet but near places we can walk to.

We don't need sea views but it would be nice if the coast/beach was easily walkable to.

Thanks in anticipation of any ideas you can come up with.

Stayed at Tregarton Park a few years ago. It is near to Mevagissey. Some pitches are separated by hedges if I remember correctly.
Would stay there again!!

Tregarton Park looks lovely but I can't see a pub nearby that is walkable too. The nearest place I can find is at least a mile down a busy road with no pavement unfortunately. Unless you know differently?

I have seen the facilities on site Tregarton Park, however, we are wanting to go earlier in the year and, this year, the bar/restaurant and shop didn't open until 11th May so no use I'm afraid.

Perhaps Dennis Cove Campsite - ten minutes walk along level riverside path to Padstow which has all sorts of pubs and restaurants to choose from, and a passenger ferry across to Rock if you want more - and beaches both sides of the estuary towards the open sea. But the downside is that the campsite isn't the cheapest - you are paying for location.

I've had a look at that one Netherton and it does look good. The price isn't so much of a concern to be honest. You do pay that for location. The only thing going against this site is that the access is quite poor. Otherwise, it definitely scrubs up well.

Porthtowan Tourist park is at the top of the hill leading down to Porthtowan. Lovely site, level pitches, clean facilities with privacy cubicles, friendly staff. There's a little shop attached to the reception. No club or bar so quiet and peaceful. Couldn't fault it. In Porthtowan there are a couple of places to eat/bars and the food was good.

Try Little Winnick near St Austell.
The Ship Inn at Pentewan is about a mile walk along a riverside/woodland walk (traffic free) and Mevagissey and The Lost Gardens of Heligan are within walking distance.

Some more in case you are making a list for next time:

We liked Little Winnick too.

Porthtowan Tourist Park (as above) - pasty factory with shop and opposite it the factory for Roddas (clotted cream people). About a 5 min drive inland. Beach walkable down the busy road or we walked near an airfield and along the cliffs.

Little Winnick, Pentewan- walk through woods to a beach. Not a normal beach though. Beach backs on to Pentewan Sands (I think) campsite which is very busy (not our cup of tea).

Tollgate Farm, Perranporth -a site of 2 parts. It has a small lane through the middle of it. We were only able to stay due to a cancellation. Most people repeatedly book. Walk over golf course to the beach OR through the Haven site next door and down (a very steep zig zag path) to the beach. The Haven driveway enterance is very near Tollgate but the actual site is not (try google maps).

Another one:

Willow Valley, Bude - on the A39 so some road noise in the early hours. A little stream runs unseen through the site so relaxing for going to sleep.
