I know I've left it far too late to book somewhere this July, but my Dad is really ill and I just haven't been able to get into the right frame of mind to sort something out. Anyway...
I'm trying to find a decent campsite somewhere in Cornwall, ideally within a mile walk of a nice pub or two. I don't mind a walk, the other half's knees tend to disagree!
Any help or advice would be really appreciated, as time is running out to get something booked for a months time.
Cheers!
Gray
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
If you can get away before the middle of July you might be lucky. Once the schools break up sites are likely to be full. You would be best looking at inland sites as ones near the coast are popular. You don't say what sort of unit you have, more likely to find a space for a tent than a caravan with EHU. The weather is looking good so just go for it.Good luck
I don't mind inland, as long as we're not too far away from a pub/restaurant or two. We both have jobs where we're very limited to which weeks we can have off together, and this year it's the last week of July.
Have you looked at the late availability checker on the search tab? narrow it down to what you need and that may give you some idea of what's available.
You might stand more chance on smaller CS/Cl type sites.

I haven't looked at the late availability yet, because I don't know which sites are close to villages or towns etc. with a pub etc. I was just asking if anyone here knew of any like that. Otherwise I'll have to l go through every one.
Will Devon do instead of Cornwall? Try an enquiry to Lydford Camping and Caravanning Park - the Castle Inn is just a stones 's throw from the site, and it's only about ten miles to Cornwall.
Check out Perran Springs Holiday Park, near Perranporth. Have just returned from there and Ive booked on the website to return in summer holidays. So they still have some availability. Its inland, but only 5 minute drive into Perranporth. Very clean showers, great kids play area and three lovely fishing lakes onsite
You might be lucky and get a pitch at Higher Moor campsite at Crantock in North Cornwall.Just checked their website and there are a few pitches left from 6th to 27th July. Thereafter fully booked.
This is our site of choice and will be there again ourselves in just under a week's time!
It is a small site (in terms of the number of pitches)and pitches are very generous in size. No EHU though.
Facilities are good and you can walk to two beaches - Crantock and Porth (Polly) Joke.
It is a lovely fat well drained site and beautifully quiet.
Its run by a retired couple who run a tight ship which means it is kept in pristine condition and any persistently noisy or ill behaved people will be asked to leave although that has never happened in all the years we have stayed there.
There's a very good pub in the village (Old Albion Inn) and the busy Bowgie Inn just a short drive at the end of the West Pentire Headland.
