This might sound a bit random but we, and both of our children with their families, would like to find a site not too far from a stream that the children can play in, search for 'treasure', dam etc.
We all live in Norfolk so our proposed location is Derbyshire, based on shortest distance for our caravans and tent.
Any advice or thoughts would be welcome.
Thanks, Carol and Ross.

Ilam Park ,Dovedale is very attractive National Trust area with the famous Stepping Stone which cross the shallow river which is virtually a stream.I think there are sites there but can’t recall exactly where.Very steep hills to climb along the valley.

The National Trust campsite at Ilam has unfortunately closed. Here are all the other campsites within 10 miles of Ilam

Hi there. Have you considered Bakewell. I always took the kids there in the summer. You may not be near the river on site but a packed bag and a short walk you are there.

Anywhere near Buxton, the park has a lovely stream running right through it where there is so much room for children (and dogs) to have a wonderful time. There's also a train ride that runs in the park too and a lovely pavillion for drinks, food and ice cream. We spent many hours in there last year during the heatwave in July, letting Bailey cool down in the stream.

Also in that area you are only 20 mins or so from Bakewell with it's river and Castleton with it's stream.

I can't recommend a site as we stay at Clover Fields which as adult only but if you search Buxton there are quite a few.

hi, I can recommend Bank House Farm which is exactly what you are looking for. Based at the start of the Manifold Way a stream runs at the back of the site. You can pitch up right next to the stream. Great for kids. Plus great pub opposite the site.

Was just about to recommend the same site.
Not been for a few years now, but it holds a special place in our hearts, as the first camp site we used when we started camping in 2012 (and returned to a number of times). Only stopped going, as it's almost on our doorstep, and we wanted to broaden our horizons!

It appears to be everything you seek.
Certainly worth a look, I'd say.

Great hosts too. Extremely accommodating and helpful to us, back when we were newbies!
