Hi All, I am having trouble trying to find the best campsite for us for 6 days in august for a family of 4 (2 adults 2 kids (7&9) and a black lab! We want to explore dorset but have a base. as we are there for 6 days I'm wanting to make sure i choose the right one. Not checked any availability yet so some could be full but can you give me some help where you would suggest. We are tenting and want somewhere family friendly and dog friendly. We normally camp in yorkshire and the lakes so Dorset is unknown to me! Thank you. :)

Woodyhyde is quite nice and handy if you want to explore Swanage/Corfe Castle. Longthorn's Farm also decent too and near Monkey World/Bovington tank museum.

Yes, Woodyhyde would be OK (I think they have at least one "dogs allowed" field), as would Tom's Field. Haven't used Burnbake, Acton Field or Downshay (the latter two seem to have a relatively short season but by all means check them out) but Norden Farm at Corfe Castle is definitely dog friendly to the extent of providing a "pooch parlour", but I understand early booking may be advisable because of its popularity.

Hi, we went to a lovely little site, tucked away part way between Burton Bradstock and Dorchester. The details are here: HERE

There are a number of reviews on this site. It's a beautiful part of the world, so I hope you enjoy it!

At present we are on East Fleet Farm site and it is very nice and convenient for us. Has a shop and a pub in addition to the normal facilities.

We went to Dorset for the first time at easter and like you wasn't familiar with the area we stayed at sandford holiday park although we were in a static we went to have a look at the camping pitches and they looked nice there is a nice dog walk next to the camping field and also a little riding stables if your children like horses. It's in a good location just up the road from monkey world and poole and Bournemouth and durdle door and lulworth cove are about a 30 minute drive. Beautiful part of the country.

Another vote for Lychett Manor. We've just returned from there and liked it so much we've booked for 3 weeks next year. Excellent site with very helpful staff and the site is very well kept. Very dog friendly with very large off lead exercise area. Even has a dedicated dog wash area.

Stayed there a couple of times and was very impressed - it ticks all the boxes.

Our dog loves Inside park, Blandford. We get lost in the woods sometimes but fortunately there are way markers on the trees to help.

The play park looks good and there's a games room with basic things like table tennis and pool tables.

There are fields of sheep and Alpacas to look at (but not to interact with) as you go along one of the walks.
