Hi everyone.
I'm looking to change my tent and as the years progress, comfort and therefore size come to the fore.
There are numerous large tents one of which I'm looking at is a tad over 8.0M x 4.6M.
That is the easy bit.
The part I'm concerned about is finding sites that accommodate tents of this size (UK only at the mo).
I can't seem to find a way for the UKCampsite search engine to filter on sites that have large pitches. Am I missing something there - with the filter?
Are most sites now realising that and accommodating them anyway?
What are other people finding / how are they coping with finding large pitches?
Many thanks,
Romer

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
I bought one around that size last year (Studland 8) and look though some sites I fancy then contact those sites and aske them about the size before picking which one I prefer.
Stayed last year on an Adult only site in Lincolnshire last Sept for first camp with it.

Certainly seen the trend towards huge tents. Comfort can certainly be had in a smaller package. That's nearly double our family tents size. Due to my partners health issues I had our van converted into a camper as it's just us now. It's a much smaller space than our big tent but all the comfort she needs mainly by way of bed & warmth. The space outside has always been what we go away for.
Were getting older & I'm finding being comfortable but simplifying things even further makes the getting ready, packing, loading, unpacking, drying, storing etc much easier.
Many caravans are 8 meters long, ok, not as wide but I would have thought that the tent would have fitted on a normal pitch.
As above, if in doubt contact the site.

I have just bought a tent which is 750 x 450 and I have just returned from a camping trip and had no problems on the campsite...in fact there were motorhomes as long if not longer than my tent on the site on grass pitches.
I am sure some campsites will not be able to accommodate such a large tent. In fact I am a little worried that a couple of my favourites sites might not be able to, but I would imagine most sites wouldn't have a problem with it...and I have retained my smaller tent for emergencies anyway.

Thanks all for your comments.
Had a quick look at the camping club website but not sure I'll get enough benefits from them to justify the cost.
Think I'll just short list some preferred sites and then ring them, as some of you have suggested.
Just need to check the weather gods to see where the sun is going to bless us with it's presence early August.
Happy hols everyone.

That's the best approach, in my opinion. We used to do the same, when had a similar sized tent.
Having said that, once you know the area you would like to visit, it may be worth coming back on here, as some of us may be able to advise on a specific site in that area, that we know could accommodate your tent.

Mainly looking around Redruth area. Fairly central for both North and South coast, but fairly open to suggestions.
Some Haven sites have large pitches, Seaview at Weymouth, we have a tourer but we book this type of pitch, Searles at Hunstanton, you need to find an area you want then search each sites website for the type of pitch you want
