Midgies are mental at this time of the year at loch Lomond safe about late September, Inverness you are near the Black Isle, Nairn, Elgin, Findhorn, lovely beaches and forests. The East in general has fewer midgies and often better weather
------------- I work to camp
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
I lived on the West coast for 40 years and have lived on the East coast for around 27 years.
They both have something to offer, just depends what you are looking for.
We have found the East to get less rain but can be quite windy (mind you we do live right on the coast).
The East is almost midge free which is a bonus.
The beaches are also amazing and the further East you go the better they get imo.
We really like the Aberdeenshire area and there are lots of good sites to choose from. Our favourites are Ballater, Braemar, Stonehaven and lots more which are all listed on the sites search.
Also some good sites in the Fife area. You have the East Neuk of Fife with all the fishing villages/towns, amazing beaches etc.
We also love spending time on the West coast and to be honest I can't think of any negatives for Scotland in general. Just do your research regarding sites as some are better than others, just like anywere in the UK.
