So it seems i have been spoiled by regularly visiting Pencelli...!
I have been regularly visiting here for short trips the past three years since my children were born and love the site. Lovely site in a picturesque area, a pub within short walking distance and another couple a mile or two away, a canal path going past the site, very very clean facilities, family friendly and quiet after 10pm. I could go on!
The last bank holiday i visited another site as we wanted to be near the sea, but didn't enjoy the site at all. On a busier road, the very basic facilities were dirty, bins not emptied in the 2 nights / 3 days we were there and the whole site just felt like a field with portaloo.
So can anybody recommend any sites in South Wales (or nearby) that have the same feel as Pencelli?
(I know i can search but nothing beats recommendations)

We really enjoyed Dan-yr-Ogof in Brecon Beacons when we visited several years ago. The loo block isn't as glam as at Pencelli but the facilities were good as were the views. As two adults we didn't have much interest in the caves or animals on site but as you have children I'm sure these would be an added bonus
Hi , sorry not what asked but we were thinking of this site for next year , I have priced it up as £25 for us two , £12.50 each for my 16 and 17 year old , £3 for electric and £4 for the awning . That's £57 a night for second week in June , am I doing something wrong
it would be helpful if you named the sites concerned, there are a couple around the area and might end up repeating. but without some idea of what site your looking for and what you want out of a site then its going to be hard going recommending anything

Hi,
Have you looked at Talybont on Usk?.
Not far from Pencelli Castle site and the canal is right outside the site.Three pubs and a cafe within walking distance.
Showers and toilets are always spotless.
The only drawback perhaps as you don't mention what you camp in is there are no hardstandings ,but the biggest pitches you will ever see. We have been there many times all weathers in a fairly weighty motorhome and never had issues getting off.
Open Easter to October.
