Can anyone please explain how seasonal pitches work? Do you pay an annual/season price and can then visit as many times you wish during season? Do you pay for electricity?
I know these questions may seem obvious to some but I am not sure how things work.

Yes, in general you pay a one off charge for the pitch and then can visit as often as you like while the site is open. When it comes to electricity I think it varies according to the site - with some it's all included, on others you have an allowance but then pay if you use more than that, or on yet others you pay extra for the electricity you use or per night you're on site. Your best bet is to check the Ts and Cs of any site you're considering.
On some sites, your caravan is towed away & stored when you’re not there. You say you’re coming & it’s towed back out.
On other sites, your caravan stays on that pitch whether you’re there or not. Those sites are spooky for us, it’s like a ghost town if no one else is staying. Also frustrating when a site is “full” but no one is actually staying in their caravan, there’s no pitch left for touring MHs and caravans. Happy Manager though - has the fees in the bank but no toilets to clean.
On sites where you drive off & leave it, some managers require you to put away the awning. Others do not - if the gales demolish it, it’ll just sit there until the next time you visit.
It does seem a nice way to keep coming back to the same place, if that’s your perfect holiday. Hope you find your own ideal site.
The site we used - Ty Isaf near Bala - also stored vans through the winter, which cost £270 if I remember rightly. Season ran March - end October but if you stayed in March you paid a nightly fee (as you'd need more electricity to keep warm, I imagine!). Otherwise it was all inclusive; free hot showers in the facilities block too. I think some sites stipulate a maximum number of nights you can spend there.
Bardsea Leisure at Ulverston is the "ghost town" kind of site, there are 80+ touring pitches, or so it says, but they are nearly all taken up with permanently(?) sited caravans, leaving about 20 for actual touring.
