Hi,
I came across a great (old) post listing campsites in or near old buildings or castles, abbeys etc but they were all Scotland and Yorkshire which, although on the bucket list, are a bit too far for a weekend. I wonder if anyone has any suggestions or recommendations for Essex / Kent area.

Bodiam Castle in East Sussex is good and there are serviced campsites within a few miles. Also have steam railway at Tenterden and Hastings not too far away by car.

Dover, Deal and Walmer castles on Kent coast and St Margaret's Bay used to have a good campsite.

Baconsthorpe in Norfolk has a campsite and a ruined castle. Other nearby places are Binham Priory, and Blickling Hall.

Thank you. The don't allow my old vw camper at Baconsthorpe but there are some other nice campsites nearby.
Bodiam Castle is one we hadn't found so we'll be off there this year
