Hi,
My parents have driven their motorhome extensively through the UK and Europe over the years. They still enjoy using their motorhome but now in their early 80s do not like to drive more than an hour from their home in Southampton.
I would love some recommendations please, for campsites that are quieter and picturesque (as they cannot walk too far these days) and are within roughly an hour's drive of Southampton. They do not necessarily need hard standing as their motorhome is only medium sized. They don't need great facilities either; beautiful, natural surroundings are far more important to them.
Many thanks for your help everyone
Chip

Hi, Ashurst Camping in the forest site. It’s in the new forest and i think is near Southampton as its on the bus route. It has no electric but a nice shower block. Can be quite noisy in school holidays but its lovely with ponies wandering around. Their is a pub nearby just over half a mile. It has good transport links too, the number 6 bus goes lymington, which is a nice day out.
Toms Field Campsite about 3 miles outside Swanage might be suitable. About 1 hour 17 minutes from Southampton according to Google.
A very quiet site with some EHU, clean facilities and nice views. Usually sheep in the adjoining field.
They only take campervans/motorhomes and tents. There is a small shop on site and a small supermarket just down the road in the village as well as a quaint village pub. In the main season there is a shack on site serving breakfasts.
There is a bus stop just up the road from the site entrance with a good service into Swanage or to Corfe and Wareham.
There are some nice cliff top walks to be had but possibly too strenuous for an elderly couple.

We're in Southampton too and are considering trying South Lytchett Minster site - haven't been there to try it yet though - it's in a great area and there are apparently buses which run from the front entrance. Just a thought.
