The site that we're booked on and hopefully going to end of July in Somerset, has announced that they will not be opening up the tent field this year, they hope to open 5th July, fingers crossed we get government permission for this.
Not only will this keep numbers down but it also means they don't have to open their facilities.
Sad for the campers that most sites will go with Caravans, motorhomes and campervans only, however it's better than not opening at all for their businesses.

Still wondering where I stand with a trailer tent with a full kitchen and a toilet tent and portaloo not so different to a lot of caravans and motorhomes.
Graham, all you can do is ask at the time of booking, tell the owner you are self sufficient and empty your portaloo at the CDP. I would have thought that would be ok.
As a new campsite we've had to take similar measures.
We can only book 3 groups at any time as we only have 3 composting toilets. Meaning each group would have their own facility ( albeit very basic)
Obviously guest with their own facilities on board are still very welcome.

The Quiet site in Cumbria is opening In July but only for caravans and Motorhomes ( no campervans or tents )
I keep hearing about sites that are "opening" in July, but I haven't heard anything about the ban on overnight stays being lifted. Have I missed something or are some people just being optimistic? According to the last information I heard from the government, opening any site would currently be illegal. I have not heard (yet) that this is going to be lifted any time soon.
Having asked around it seems that if you have your own facilities you should be ok I think the sites need the business. The sites I have spoken to all say they hope to reopen early July so I assume they have been told this by someone in authority, lets hope thousands of people marching through the cities over the weekend without social distancing doesn't destroy this plan.

I think the key word there Graham is "hope". As far as I am aware, nothing has been said about anything else being relaxed as yet, and I'm sure if it had it would have leaked out somewhere. The problem is that people keep expecting dates for these things when the real sensible thing would be to say something like "they will be allowed to reopen when the infection rate comes down to XYZ". If they said now that sites would be allowed to reopen in July, then the infection rate went up substantially between now and then, what do they do? Do they carry on with the date they announced, or do they lock-down even tighter? Realistically you can't put a date on these things.

We are open and welcoming all types of campers, we are semi wild so may not suit all.
Our composting toilets are open a d each group is currently being allocated 1 per group. Although our shower wont be in use we welcome guests to bring their own solar shower.

Hi
I know of some sites that are saying.
If your not local or a regular at the site, then the door will remain shut.
I expect they are trying to stop the spread of Covid 19 in the area that they live in, with having to many visitors from miles away.
And to avoid accommodating those that just want to party the weekend away while they can lol.
I can understand that point in one way, and it may not be that popular with some?

I can certainly understand it Ray, it is people travelling that spreads it after all. Some people don't want to hear that though.
