It's definitely down to wind direction, I'd say.
Draw a straight line from this site to the local pub (The Gladstone), and precisely halfway along that line is where we have pitched our tent on two separate occasions (Pitch 1 on the tent field at Tyddyn Du Touring Park), so maybe 300-600m or so nearer to the A55 (depending on where you pitch).
We've had almost silent nights, and also nights where you could hear the constant drone of distant traffic. Not enough to disturb our sleep, but I guess that's not relevant, as we're all different. That's in a tent, not an insulated caravan.
On a separate note, whilst Tyddyn Du is perfectly lovely, and we would certainly stay there again, (We love this area, and enjoy the cycling through Conwy into Llandudno) it is a caravan park predominantly, and I do like the look of this Trwyn Yr Wylfa Farm Campsite (Of which I wasn't aware), so we may well give this one a try next time we are over that way, so thanks for bringing it to my attention.
I suspect it may well get windy, too. We were extremely grateful for the extra "windbreak" the very first time we went to Tyddyn Du, setting up with gusts in excess of 50mph (coming from the West)...
