Has anyone been to the TAN HILL INN this year? I have looked at the reviews but the latest one is from September last year. It sounds lovely up there but just wondered what it was like to get to in a campervan and what its like. Reading the facebook page it sounds like there have been some changes over the winter and obviously because of the covid so i'm just interested to know.

Not been, but the trick is reading the reviews - there are zero reviews at this site for some years, 3 in others, so you’re unlikely to get a more up to date one. And read the reviews until you’re bored - read at least 6: do the things people rave about matter to you? Would you be bothered about the things people complain about? If a place has a star rating that varies from 2 (dire!) to 10 (perfect!) like this place, it’s unfair to think a more recent review would swing it either way.
I read a number of reviews & I’d say it’s worth trying for at least one night, but check the toilet situation with the current Covid requirements.

There’s some 2020 reviews on TripAdvisor - had a nose because it’s our sort of place in non-COVID times ! (avoiding pubs at the mo as husband has been shielding) Most of the csmosite ones look good but the pub is obviously hectic post lockdown so bear that in mind if you want to eat there.

Was up there yesterday to have a look, in all honesty whilst the area is lovely and remote, I am not sure the camping experience would match it - appears only three festival style portaloos for each sex and four showers in a trailer - I saw a picture of the car park rammed with double parked motorhomes and campers last week which appeared to negate the benefits of the setting and I would guess the facilities would have been overwhelmed.
