"Shell Island update 16/07/2020
Today we have made the hardest decision ever in the history of Shell Island, we have made the decision to not open the Campsite for the 2020 season to either campers or day visit.
This decision as a family and as business has not been in any way easy but we have to think of the safety of our families, staff, local community and our visitors.
We do not believe that now is the right time to open safely and confidently in such a short period of time for such a short season that is left. Things surrounding Covid-19 keep changing daily including localised lockdowns across the UK which would make things extremely hard for us to track etc. We will now have time to prepare to the best of our ability to reopen for 2021 season, we will learn of new guidelines, advice and technology to help make the site even safer than pre Covid."
Have a look at Cae Du (not the Beddgelert site of the same name). If suitable/open/available pitches, I'd suggest approaching site from the south and leaving towards the north as entrance/exit is on the outside of a bend with restricted view.
Alternatively, and not really similar to Shell Island (which is pretty unique of course!) other possibilities are a couple of C&CC THSs currently listed as open most of August on Anglesey which would offer good value if you're already a member, or prepared to join on arrival.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
I've tried to book with cae du. After an initial response to confirm they have availability, they've not replied to my booking request and aren't answering the phone unfortunately.
