I have just spoken to a site owner with a view of booking a seasonable pitch for next year (2nd lockdown permitting).
I was told that they were fully booked and I asked for prices anyway to get some idea of what it would cost. Here we go LOL.
Easter to October 2021 straight fee £1300
For every night you stay in your caravan £5 per night.approx 210 nights £1050
Awning £5 per day.
Electricity, metered and charged per day also per amp/watt used ????
Dog £5 per day
Children £5 per day per child
Giving me a grand total excluding electricity, food, drink etc of £6550.
Is it me or does this seem a little over the top
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
duchy of cornwall? cant think of any other royal houses down that way, but even then your going to be paying £35 a night on average so two low price seasons and one high price? be cheaper to find a storage site down there for about £400 a year, and then you only have a short tow to the site where you can get cl's and cs's for about £15-20 a night including the ehu they dont charge extra for awning kids dogs !

You should have asked, once you recovered, if they were doing the opening turn at the local comedy club when it reopened.
Never heard anything so ridiculous in my life.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
I could be wrong, however, based on 1.3k GBP straight fee for 210 nights, that's only 6.19 GBP per night for parking a van on a site without using any of the facilities, except for site security and taking up a space.
Is that really that outrageous?
What is outrageous to me is the 5.00 GBP per day for the dog and another 5.00 GBP per day for an awning!

ok so the site fees of £1300 work out at £6.19 a day, but when you look at that fee as being storage, due to then charging for useage that is a heck of a lot of money for storage! normally its approx £400 or less
if we knew which site it actually was then we could compare against the touring fees, which are more than likely to be far less tken over the year than the current total fee of £6550, with a bit of time on the phone i bet it would be possible to book for the coming year each weekend plus extra nights needed for far far less than ths figure and then get the caravan stored
Thanks for all your comments, I don't think I would like to reveal the site, no names no pack drill and all that.
I must admit to being an absolute beginner to caravanning on sites, I was a motorhomer before and was used to wild camping but this is getting such a bad rep that we decided to sell the motorhome and buy a caravan with a view of spending the summers somewhere on the south coast and then storing over the winter.
I know it is only one site and I will not be put off by this, I just hope this is not going to become the norm. I would gladly welcome any site recommendations as well please.

I understand the horror at some of prices being quoted by some rip off sites but the solution is in your hands, for instance we are in Wales our friends are on the ccc site facilities all shut no electric still paying 21,00 a night we are on a small site down the road paying 12,00 a night .
The point is it's your choice to pay or not and if people wouldn't pay sites would not charge it.

Is the £5 a night in addition to the £1300? If so way over the top.
